EA Sports have released the latest installment in the FIFA 20 TOTSSF FUT pack series. The Portuguese Primeira Liga enters the frame, or should we rather say Benfica & pals? The reigning champions of Portugal occupy more than half of the squad, so if you’re a Sporting CP fan, you might want to look away now.
Defense returns with Primeira Liga TOTSSF
Last week’s Bundesliga TOTSSF had plenty of quality upfront, but let’s say the team lacked a bit in the defensive department. Primeira Liga TOTSSF has no such weaknesses. The Portuguese team proves that it’s not a one-trick pony by covering every single main position on the field for a classic 4-4-2 formation. If you’ve followed TOTSSF, you’d know just how impressive and outright improbable such a feat is. That would be impressive even in real-life football where 4-4-2 has been way out of fashion this decade.

So, the team. If you still have no trust in Portuguese defenses, let me introduce you to the highest-rated player on Primeira Liga TOTSSF – left back Alex Telles. Rated at 94, the Porto player shares top dog status with Benfica’s Pizzi who slides on the right side of midfield. Pizzi is accompanied by five of his teammates to make sure Benfica hold over half of the roster slots.

Porto have three more players next to Telles while the only player outside the two dominant Portuguese species to make the cut hails from… Sporting Braga. If you are a Sporting Lisbon fan and you made it this far, first of all – I warned you, second of all – you have my sincere condolences.

The full Primeira Liga TOTSSF squad:
- GK: Agustín Marchesín – 87 OVR (Porto)
- RB: Jesús Manuel Corona – 89 OVR (Porto)
- CB: Rúben Dias – 91 OVR (Benfica)
- CB: Iván Marcano – 90 OVR (Porto)
- LB: Alex Telles – 94 OVR (Porto)
- RM: Pizzi – 94 OVR (Benfica)
- CM: Gabriel – 92 OVR (Benfica)
- Adel Taarabt – 92 OVR (Benfica)
- LM: Rafa – 93 OVR (Benfica)
- ST: Vinícius – 90 OVR (Benfica)
- ST: Paulinho – 88 OVR (Sporting Braga)
- LM: Luís Díaz – 90 OVR (Porto) – SBC
- CB: Jérémy Mathieu – 91 OVR (Sporting CP) – Objectives
Sporting CP squeeze through via the special Objectives card of Mathieu, but when the 36-year-old French defender is the best they can do, you could see why there’s no Sporting presence in the first eleven.
The next TOTSSF is expected to drop this Friday, May 22. We will be there for the announcement and so should you!
