Another change in the official Magic: The Gathering ban list is approaching and some of the most competitive decks might just get a lot less powerful.
The change is scheduled for next Monday, June 13, Wizards announced via a Tweet:
On Monday 7/13 there will be an update to the Banned & Restricted list impacting the following formats: Historic, Pioneer, Modern, and Pauper.

They say the changes will affect formats Historic, Pioneer, Modern, and Pauper, meaning an overhaul of the top tier decklists among both paper MTG and Arena.
This new amendment to the Banned/Restricted list comes almost exactly a month after the last one, when Winota, Joiner of Forces was suspended. Back then, MTG makers were clear that they will now be quicker to ban and restrict cards in MTGA and the bannings will be taking effect immediately. This time though, we have a traditional change in the ban list that comes to the tabletop version of the game as well, so it’s reasonable to expect a fair warning.
Of course, the community is buzzing with speculation. Note, that Wizards are talking about an “update” to the list, not just adding new cards in, so some even expect to see some of the cards made legal to play again.
As far as MTGA is concerned, a prime target for suspension or even banning would be the very problematic Nexus of Fate, that’s been dominating the format lately and completely ruined Standard back in the Core 19 times.
In just a few days, we’ll know for sure. But now, enjoy your Historic blue decks. Who knows, maybe these will be the last few days with them.
