Rumor has it that 100 Thieves have bought the Call of Duty League seat of OpTic Gaming Los Angeles, thus returning to the CoD professional scene. They are to compete under the name LA Thieves.

It was recently announced that Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez, founder of OpTic Gaming Los Angeles and CEO of Chicago Huntsmen, has bought back his old franchise. Thus, he was the owner of two spots in the Call of Duty League – Chicago Huntsmen and OpTic Gaming – which is not possible according to the rules. Even back then, there were rumors that Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag, CEO of 100 Thieves and former CoD professional at OpTic Gaming, could take over the CDL slot from H3CZ.

As it now turns out, this is exactly what seems to have happened. The OpTic Gaming franchise remains in the hands of H3CZ, but the Call of Duty League place goes to 100 Thieves. According to rumors, the organization will compete in the CDL under the name LA Thieves.

100 Thieves had already been part of the professional CoD scene for one season before and won two major trophies in the CoD World League and second place in the CWL World Championship. Looking at these facts, as well as Nadeshots’ own CoD past, the purchase of the CDL spot does not seem very surprising.

If the organization does not make any serious roster changes, we can probably expect the following players in the coming season:

  • Austin “SlasheR“ Liddicoat
  • Kenny “Kuavo“ Williams
  • Thomas “TJHaLy“ Haly
  • Zack “Drazah“ Jordan

How H3CZ will proceed with the OpTic Gaming brand remains unclear for the time being. One possibility would be to rebrand his current team, Chicago Huntsmen. However, the CDL requires that franchises remain in the city where they were originally established, which would mean that H3CZ would also have to sell the Huntsmen spot and move the team to Los Angeles.

Whatever happens, we look forward to the Thieves' return to Call of Duty and can't wait for the start of the new season.
