Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has been out for a while now, and it's about time that we gave some attention to the multitude of bugs and glitches present in the game. We've all experienced them, and we try to see these bloody annoying little problems as quirky, but eventually they start getting under out skin. Here's a collection of BOCW Bugs and Glitches.
Black Ops Cold War might not be quite as much of a buggy mess as Cyberpunk 2077, but that doesn't mean that we can't help you out! Here's a spot where you can find all the information you need on bugs and glitches in BOCW. We will unwrap and produce new volumes as new bugs are discovered, and patches resolve issues. Stay tuned!
Challenge Progress is Often Not Properly
Often after a major update like a Season change or a midseason update, challenge progress is not working properly. Oh, and yeah, this bug shows up after pretty much every update. Want to complete your Daily Challenges or Skins and Camos Challenges, but progress just doesn't count? Don't worry, the next little bug fix should usually fix it again and again.
Free wallhacks
Some players have reported that they can see the names of opposing players through walls across the map. It's like a wallhack. The following clip shows how the player can see the name of an opponent across the map right from the start and thus can anticipate where the player will come towards him.

Diamond Camo is Not Unlocking
There are many fabulous Camos to unlock in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, but they are not without their challenges. Unlocking new Camo is notoriously difficult, but bloody fun and a great end-goal to get you through challenges – that is, if it works. Players are now reporting that the tracker for Camo may be bugged, making it impossible for some players to receive the Diamond Camo after completing Gold.
Whilst this must be pretty bloody frustrating for those of you who may be experiencing the issue, try not to worry too much! It may show that you haven’t completed all of your weapon upgrades, restricting you from Diamond-access, but Treyarch is on the case! If you’re like us, you are loving Cold War and have spent many hours trying to get your grubby little mitts on everything you can. Fear not: a fix is on its way according to Treyarch’s Trello Board, and it should be arriving any day now!
Update: This error has been fixed.
Players Are Losing Body Parts!
If you've ever felt you really just wanna take a stroll out of your own body, then you're in luck! One of the weirdest bugs in Black Ops Cold War is also a pretty common one in gaming: the "I'm missing my head", or "Where are my legs?". There have been tons of instances of these sorts of bugs reported by players over the last weeks, with missing heads, missing torsos, legs wandering off by themselves, or something of this sort. Look, it ain't anything to the level of Assassin's Creed Unity (what the bloody hell was that!?), but it does have us hiding a few giggles in the office!
You guys need to relax. The bugs in this game are nothing to lose your head over. from blackopscoldwar
CoD is Killing Next-Gen Consoles
We won't get into a huge amount of detail here, as we detailed it in our article Black Ops Cold War is Crashing the Xbox Series X, where we detail exactly what is going on with the new console's CoD problems! Since publishing, though, it is now known that the PlayStation 5 is not faring that much better. These crashes and bugs are causing huge problems for owners of the new-gen consoles, with some reporting that the game is not just crashing, but breaking their systems!
Clearly, with these reports being at the scale they are, the developers are very hard at work trying to resolve the issue as quickly as absolute possible. There are many theories about what these problems could be, but all it takes is a quick squiz on Reddit to see how unbelievably widespread these issues are! All we can hope into the future is that this is a one-off issue with BOCW, and not a system problem with the consoles themselves... More to come very soon on this one!
Update: This error has been fixed.
Graphical Glitches Make Us Sad...
It seems the latest Call of Duty has a few more graphical glitches than you would usually expect. We bloody hate it when our games bug out and textures look muddy, bizarre objects and spikes come out of models, or the lighting goes berserk! We know, we sound a bit whiney, but it really does make us a little sad to see great games suffer with technical issues across the board, and especially when it comes to graphics - because THAT is the interface we have to all these roads we travel.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has its share of these bugs and glitches, including reports of screen flashing, disappearing bushes and texture issues. None of these are game breaking, but Treyarch is on the case, with Cold War's latest patch already addressing many issues. BOCW has perfectly passable graphics, especially on the new consoles, and it is exciting to see things get fixed up so that players can enjoy the bloody game, instead of being confronted with constantly ugly graphical bugs!
Connection problems and "Negative 345 Blazing Gator" error
If you've been playing Warzone or Black Ops Cold War for a while, you might have encountered connection problems once or twice. Despite numerous patches, which are dedicated to the stability of the game, there are still disconnects happening regularly. This is partly due to the Call of Duty servers, partly due to your own connection. One of the most common errors is the so-called "Negative 345 Blazing Gator" error.
This error appears when the game is unable to connect to the server. So what can you do? First of all, you should check if the servers are currently offline due to server maintenance. If this is the case, you have no choice but to play offline and wait. If this is not the case, you can try the following solutions:
- Restart your router.
- Some players also report that a VPN helps to bypass the error.
- Connecting via a mobile hotspot, can also fix the problem.
- If you dare to go into the settings of your router, you can also forward ports, which is also said to help.
If all this doesn't help, there is nothing left to do but wait and see. However, we have 5 tips for you here.
There will always be BOCW bugs and glitches, that's okay!
Games often feature a decent number of glitches, and these can be inconsistent between players! Your mate might have no problems at all, but you're having a bloody bollocks of a time. That's okay, though, as it is in the best interests of the developer to squish your bugs faster than Mario stomps a Goomba. With their big-ass shoes, they just gotta make sure they don't break the game to start with, or with their patches - not all duct tape sticks, after all!
Not all of the bug and glitches plaguing Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War are listed here, but we are going to post further volumes like this as the game evolves and changes over the coming months. Remember, though, if you find any bugs and glitches yourself, let us know on Facebook and Twitter, and we will look into it! Activision also has a glitch reporting platform that you can visit to report problems directly to the developers.
