Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has suffered poor weapon balancing since its launch back in November 2020. Will this issue be fixed? Well, Treyarch certainly thinks so, claiming that BOCW will get Weapon Tuning in its Season 2 Mid-Season Update, but will it, and when's its release date anyway?
Season 2 has been a rip-roaring success for Black Ops Cold War, but one issue still grinds our gears more than grandma's 1970's Toyota: weapon balancing. As ModernWarzone mentioned in a recent Tweet, the game hasn't seen a weapon balance update in almost 100 days. That's absolutely nuts – and we don't mean peanuts, no, walnuts.
So #BlackOpsColdWar hasn't received any weapon balancing updates in... 97 days.

BOCW Season 2 Mid-Season Update: Will They Fix Weapon Tuning?
Now that the idea of those bitter, rock-hard nuts is implanted into your brain, as well as the uncomfortable allusions that they inflict upon your imagination, we would like to let you know that the wait is nearly over. Season 2: Reloaded, or Season 2: Mid-Season Update (whatever the bloody thing will be called) will be the next "major" update for BOCW, and will include some major weapon balance changes.
For those asking about weapon tuning, we've got a full tuning pass coming in our next major update. And Season Two's midpoint is just around the corner... hmm...

Sound exciting? Well, we're pretty stoked, to be honest. Whilst certain aspects of Black Ops Cold War have led to a little bit of disappointment, for the most part, the game is super f**king solid, and we very much wish it the best. This announcement seems pretty exciting, doesn't it?
Update from March 26:
Treyarch has teased us further by posting a loooong list of weapons that will be affected by the upcoming weapon tuning. To our surprise, they're also already announcing the full patch notes for next week Monday.

What Will be Changed by Weapon Tuning?
According to developer Treyarch, the weapon tuning pass in the mid-season update will include the following things:
- Tuning for the LC10, AK-74u, MAC-10, KSP 45, Milano 821, Krig 6, FFAR 1, Groza, Magnum, RPG-7, and more.
- Adjustments for LMGs.
- Complete recoil balance on assault rifles.
- Balancing of SMG attachments.
- A buff to launcher damage against enemies with Flak Jacket in Hardcore.
That sounds super damn promising if you ask us! Holy cow! The game is starting to feel like it really bloody needs it, so we can't wait to feel its impact. Oh, and also find out what will be in the Season 2 Mid-Season Update, of course.
BOCW Season 2 Mid-Season Update: When is the Release Date?
According to Treyarch, Season 2: Reloaded, or the Season 2 Mid-Season Update will release next week. The most likely release date is April 1, as this is also when the regular weekly playlist update goes live. It would also fit, since Season 3 will probably start around April 22nd and the mid-season update would actually be in the middle of the season....
Jeez-Magee, that would be a pretty great piece of news! Season 3 will probably include some pretty fantastic additions but, to be honest, Season 1: Reloaded was much better than Season 1 itself. If they follow this trend with the Season 2 Mid-Season Update, then we are really in for something special. It's time to put away the nuts, and get our bodies ready for some real, solid protein.
