BOCW Season 3 Setup Guides: Type 63 – The DMR 14’s Little Brother

In our regular setup guides, we introduce you to the best attachments for each weapon in Black Ops Cold War. This time, we finish with tactical rifles, and introduce you to the little brother of the DMR 14: the Type 63.

Are you looking for the best weapons in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War? You've already found your favorite weapon, but you want to know which attachments you can use to get the most out of it? Then you’ve come to the right place! We show you the best weapons from Black Ops Cold War in our optimal setup guides!

With the M16, the AUG, and the DMR 14, we have already covered almost all tactical rifles in Black Ops Cold War – only the Type 63 is missing. Since the M16 and the AUG were extremely strong, especially shortly after the release of BOCW (and still are, despite of the nerf), we had to dedicate ourselves to them first. We probably don’t have anything else to say about the DMR 14 – since its integration into Warzone with Season 1 as there seems to be no other topic in the community.

However, with all the excitement about the DMR 14, many forget that the Type 63 isn’t that much worse. Its very high damage, and easy to control recoil, makes it extremely deadly at long range. However, if you can click quickly, you still have a very powerful weapon even at shorter distances. Especially in multiplayer, the Type 63, like any other tactical rifle, should be used to take out enemies from a distance.

Type 63 Setup

In order to make our setup accessible to all players, regardless of the chosen wildcard, we will again limit ourselves to the most important five attachments for the weapon. Those who use gunslinger can use the remaining three slots according to their personal preference.

With these attachments, we increase the rate of fire, damage, and control, which allows it to deal out properly in any game mode:

  • Sight: Visiontech 2x
  • Muzzle: KGB Eliminator
  • Barrel: 18.3” Mission Team
  • Underbarrel: Speznas Grip
  • Handle: GRU Elastic Wrap

Let’s start with the sights. Yes, we usually forgo a rear sight in our setups in favor of another better attachment, but on the Type 63 we recommend the Visiontech 2x. The rifle is designed for longer distances, so a 2x magnification sight is perfect. With the KGB eliminator, we reduce vertical recoil by 17%, and get 85% muzzle flash shielding. The heart of the setup is, of course, the barrel. The 18.3” Mission Team Barrel reduces our range, but increases our rate of fire by 11% and damage by 9%. The reduced range has almost no negative effect in multiplayer. With the Speznas Grip, we reduce horizontal recoil by 40%, and vertical recoil by another 10%, and with the GRU Elastic Wrap, we target 30% faster and get 90% twitch resistance, which allows stable aiming even under fire.
