Season 2: Reloaded for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone is live, and brings new maps and new game modes, as well as weapon tuning for a large part of the in-game arsenal.
Yes, we had predicted the mid-season update, or Season 2: Reloaded, for Thursday, but anyone can be wrong... Besides, no one can complain when new content comes earlier than expected, right?
We'll take a look at the complete Season 2: Reloaded patch notes in a separate article, in this one we are fully dedicated to weapon tuning. Which weapons are affected, and how has the balance changed? Find out here!
Season 2: Reloaded Weapon Tuning Patch Notes
Black Ops Cold War hasn't had any weapon balancing updates for a long time, but today's is all the bigger for it. According to Treyarch, the goal of this weapon tuning update is to make some assault rifles a bit more playable, as well as to adjust some submachine guns, and much more. Let's go!
Assault Rifle Weapon Tuning
- Improved visibility when firing at a target.
- Complete overhaul for weapon accuracy, weapon movement, and sight when firing with any optic attachment.
- Fixed the weapon feeling "floaty" when firing for extended periods of time.
- Projectile speed has been increased by 12.8%.
- The maximum damage range has been increased by 40%.
Attachments
- Complete rework for muzzle and underbarrel attachments that affect recoil in assault rifles.
Submachine Guns Weapon Tuning
- Damage at medium range has been increased by 10%.
- The range that counts as medium distance has been increased by 33%.
- The sprint speed has been increased by 14.2%.
- Speed for drawing the weapon has been increased by 11%.
- The speed for aiming has been slightly increased.
- The projectile speed has been increased by 32.5%.
- The delay between firing bursts has been reduced by 20%.
- Reduced accuracy during prolonged firing.
- Reduced muzzle velocity by 23.4%.
- Reduced maximum damage range by 41%.
- Slightly reduced damage at medium range.
- Changed firing pattern to scatter slightly more horizontally.
Attachments
- Complete rework for muzzle and underbarrel attachments that affect recoil on SMGs.
Light Machine Guns Weapon Tuning
- Maximum damage range reduced by 25%.
Sniper Rifles Weapon Tuning
- The flash effect on sniper rifles without optics has been removed.
Pistols Weapon Tuning
- The sighting speed has been increased by 11%.
Magnum
- Accuracy from the hip has been slightly reduced.
- Two-Handed: Scatter is now more random when both weapons are fired simultaneously.
- The 4.7" Takedown barrel attachment has been redesigned to a "Tight Snub" barrel. This attachment now increases damage against vehicles and human targets.
Launcher Weapon Tuning
RPG-7
- The blast radius has been slightly increased
- The missile now flies straight for significantly longer before erupting.
General
Missiles now do more damage to enemies wearing flak jackets in hardcore game modes. A one-hit kill still requires a direct hit.
Weapon Progression
Players can now earn weapon XP and challenge progress by using any weapon, even if they don't currently own it (for example, by using another player's weapon that you pick up off the ground).
What Does All This BOCW & Warzone Mean?
Some of the most popular and powerful weapons will be slightly toned down, while other weapons will be slightly upgraded. Overall, this should lead to greater diversity in the weapons being played again.
Particularly noticeable here are the AK-74u and the LC10. Both were considered incredibly powerful, and have now been significantly weakened. The lower muzzle velocity and reduced accuracy of the AK-74u could make other MPs more interesting again. The LC10 excelled primarily because of its long-range, which made even most assault rifles look old. Now, it has lost over 40% of its range, which should significantly reduce its popularity somewhat.
