Wow! There's a lot to cover in this article. We're going to try to keep it as short as possible, so let's just simply introduce the game mode to start-out. Champion Hill is a new game mode coming to Call of Duty: Vanguard, and will be featured in this weekend's PlayStation Alpha. It looks like an interesting new take on classic CoD multiplayer, but let's also be real here, not that inventive. Here are all the CoD Vanguard Champion Hill details, screenshots, and more...

Yes, yes, we understand that these Call of Duty: Vanguard Champion Hill details might not fully satiate your appetite for Call of Duty: Vanguard news. Thus, here's the latest...

What is Call of Duty: Vanguard Champion Hill?

Vanguard's new Champion Hill mode is a clever combination of Battle Royale and Gunfight, which sees players battling it out until only one team is left standing. The game can be played in 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4, and forms a sort-of round-robin deathmatch tournament wherein each player has a set amount of "lives" and will be eliminated once all of those lives have been worked down.

The mode is played across a larger map which is made up of a central hub-like area, and four other maps (see below for details), and is won once only one team is left standing. Rounds last 60 seconds, and after each round there will be a "Buy Round" wherein players can upgrade their weapons and equipment, and make purchases to assist them in the next round. The cash needed to purchase these upgrades and items is earned by eliminating players. Thus, Vanguard Champion Hill rewards aggressive play.

New CoD: Vanguard Champion Hill Images

As part of the recent Call of Duty: Vanguard Champion Hill Alpha announcement, new images have been released for the mode. You can see them below, and they feature a number of player-characters, each of whom we can assume you will be able to play in Champion Hill. One image shows off a World War 2 sniper, and the others show a number of operators wielding various weapons. They don't reveal a whole lot, but we're sure that it'll all become clear once the Vanguard Alpha launches.

Call of Duty: Vanguard's Champion Hill mode will actually consist of combat across a large map that is split into five sections. Above are four separate maps, all joined to a Central Buy Station to form one large "Champion Hill Arena". Greg Reisdorf, a developer at Sledgehammer Games, confirmed that not only are the four maps all "there together" in one map, but that there will be no loading screens in-between them.

Are Scorestreaks in CoD: Vanguard Champion Hill?

Scorestreaks are likely being replaced with Killstreaks in Call of Duty: Vanguard's Champion Hill mode, though this is unconfirmed. According to the Call of Duty Blog, Champion Hill will allow players to utilize Killstreaks. This suggests that the terminology, and also the methodology, will change in Call of Duty: Vanguard. The quote is as follows:

Everyone starts with the same Loadout, and while it can be lethal, collecting Cash – earned by taking enemy lives and picking up drops scattered around the map – will allow you to upgrade your starting weapons and purchase new armaments, equipment, Perks, and Killstreaks during Buy Rounds that happen between Combat Rounds.

The thing about this change is that it could mean an evolution in the way we think about Killstreaks and Scorestreaks in Call of Duty multiplayer modes. We don't exactly know what the big differences will be here, or whether it is simply a name-change, but we are pretty excited because we will find out very soon. It's also not entirely certain whether this change will apply solely to Champion Hill, or whether it will also change in standard multiplayer. Anyway, let's wait and see, hey? Call of Duty: Vanguard looks pretty incredible, to be honest, but we will have to wait and see. If you are a PlayStation player, then enjoy the Alpha. If not: enjoy Warzone, and eat a pizza.
