Activision's second earnings call of the year took place earlier this week, and featured the upcoming Call of Duty 2021, otherwise-known as Call of Duty: WW2 Vanguard. There may have been no official announcement for this year's Call of Duty, but a bunch of leaks have confirmed that CoD 2021 may come to last and next-gen consoles, amongst other details.
The entire Call of Duty community has been waiting for an official announcement of the next big CoD title for 2021 for months. After all, Call of Duty 2021 or CoD: WW2 Vanguard should appear in autumn 2021, and so far there has been nothing but leaks. Actually, the only solid details that we know about are that CoD: WW2 Vanguard will be developed by Sledgehammer Games, and will be set in World War II. Will CoD 2021 / CoD: WW2 Vanguard come to last and next-gen consoles, and what else has been leaked? Here are a few to get you started:

Yesterday's earnings call did not announce a release date, or hold any other major announcement, but it did shed light on a few things...
Is CoD 2021 Coming to Last & Next-Gen Consoles?
It has been confirmed in this week's Activision earnings call that CoD will appear in 2021 for both last-gen and next-gen consoles. Given the current shortage of consoles, this should reassure many players who have not yet had the chance to secure a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. On the other hand, this also means that CoD will be technically limited in 2021. The old consoles cannot, of course, graphically achieve what a next-gen console can do, but let's wait and see what Sledgehammer can tease out of the last-gen consoles.

Will Call of Duty: WW2 Vanguard Have Warzone?
As pretty much everyone already suspected, CoD 2021 will be revealed within Warzone, and will be integrated into the experience after its release. The latest teaser can be found in the Warzone Season 5 teaser image, where the new female operator can be seen against a background of numbers and Japanese characters. The Japanese writing in the backgroundcan be translated to "Vanguard Coming". Exciting!

So, we expect that CoD 2021, much like BOCW last year, will be teased again in Warzone. Season 5 will hopefully bring another exciting scavenger hunt, with clues about the new CoD, that will ultimately end with the unveiling of CoD 2021.
CoD 2021 Takes Place in World War 2
There has been no official confirmation of this yet, but the call confirmed that CoD 2021 will "Play in a setting that fans know and love". After the numerous leaks in the past, and Sledgehammer's past with Call of Duty WWII, a World War II setting seems increasingly likely.
Activision says Call of Duty 2022 will be a "robust" game at launch and that development is coming along well."Sledgehammer Games has never been bigger or stronger." pic.twitter.com/pQpZDO2OA2

Finally, Activision reaffirmed that CoD 2021 will be a "robust" game when it is released, and that development is going well. Sledgehammer Games have never been bigger and stronger. What exactly is meant by "robust", however, is still unknown... We definitely hope that it will be a finished game with enough content, and not the disaster that was Black Ops Cold War last year. Fingers crossed!
