Black Ops Gulf War Maps: More Remasters For CoD In 2024, Leaker Claims Grind & WMD Set To Return

A leaker is claiming that Grind and WMD will be remade in CoD 2024. Here is a quick refresher on those two maps, as well as our opinion on how trustworthy the source of this info is.

CoD 2024, Black Ops Gulf War, is going to feature some map remakes. This much is true of every CoD game these days, but we've just heard a leak about the specific maps being remade, and we're excited.

Grind & WMD Apparently Returning Next Year

A CoD insider called "Perseus" is claiming that the maps Grind and WMD will be remade in CoD 2024. Perseus has a fairly good track record with leaks, and they were DMCA'd by Activision last year for revealing a lot of DMZ intel that later turned out to be true.

If you need your memory jogging:

  • Grind: This map is set in a skatepark. It was included in the first DLC (Revolution) for Black Ops 2, and has since been remade only once in Black Ops 4.
  • WMD: This is a snowy map set in a Soviet military base. WMD was released with Black Ops 1, and was later remade for Black Ops 4 and Black Ops Cold War.

Both of these maps were remade for Black Ops 4, but we don't think there's much to read into that. We certainly don't expect CoD 2024 to be more inspired by BO4 than any other Black Ops game (it was released far too recently to get the MW2 treatment).

We think these are two standalone remakes from the history of the Black Ops series that will appear in next year's game. That would be completely in line with the direction of modern Call of Duty; most of the maps we get these days are remakes.

What do you think of these two particular maps, would you be happy to see these remakes over others?
