Call of Duty: Vanguard is going to be the name of the next CoD installment. It's due for release later this year, and it's being developed by Activision Blizzard's third Call of Duty studio: Sledgehammer Games. Besides knowing that this is a WW2 CoD, we've also learned a few other details aboutthe multiplayer, the zombies, and the current integration plans with Warzone.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is having a rough time, and it hasn't even been revealed. Most eyes are turned toward the more anticipated Battlefield 2042 title and what news we have had regarding Call of Duty has been largely critical, including rumors that development is so far behind, Vanguard might be delayed for a year. But in the last few days, two quite prominent leakers took to YouTube in separate streams and provided a little more detail on the upcoming game. It's more positive than people might have feared.
What Do We Know About Call Of Duty: Vanguard?
We've heard various rumors about the game this year, some of which seem to be accurate and some less so. But in Tom Henderson's recent video, and in ModernWarzone's just days later, we started to get some more substantial information. These two are well–known insiders, and so we think the details can be trusted. Here's what they revealed:
Will There Be A New CoD In 2021?
Yes, Call of Duty: Vanguard is definitely coming this year, probably in early–November. You should expect an official reveal of Vanguard to begin with an easter egg in Warzone's Verdansk around August. Just as it was for BOCW.
Who Is Making CoD: Vanguard?
Call of Duty: Vanguard is being developed by Activision Blizzard's third Call of Duty studio - Sledgehammer Games. We've heard rumors that Treyarch is assisting and consulting on the game, but the information is unverifiable.
Like keeping up to speed with all things Call of Duty? So do we, here's a few of the new additions in case you missed anything:
- Leak: Modern Warfare 3 Remaster Will Be Released This Year!
- Warzone Season 4: "Days of Summer" Event Leaked
- Warzone Star Jukeyz Suffers Fractured Wrist During Robbery Attempt
Will CoD: Vanguard Have Warzone?
Call of Duty Vanguard will launch with a new WWII BR map set in the Pacific. We know that the map is going to be much larger than Verdansk, and it will feature far more vehicles than we've previously had.
Will CoD: Vanguard Be Available On PS4 & Xbox One?
Call of Duty Vanguard will be a cross-gen release available to both Xbox One and PS4, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. With current-gen console shortages being what they are, this is no surprise, but welcome news to people who haven't upgraded yet.
What Do We Know About CoD: Vanguard's Gameplay?
There will be more environmental destruction in Call of Duty: Vanguard than we've seen in CoD before, and the game is built on Modern Warfare 2019s engine. Those are both fantastic developments and worth being excited for, but we know very little else at present, except for plans to remaster WWII maps in the multiplayer. This was somewhat predictable, but now it's been claimed by a reliable leaker:
Just some small bits to share I've been told that the map 'London Docks' from WW2 is apparently coming to Vanguard as season dlc (1 or 2 I think)As well as a WW2 version of a very fan-favourite map from a very iconic cod game.... can't share what that map is just yet though

Will The Game Definitely Be Called CoD: Vanguard?
No, it seems that it might in fact be called CoD: Slipstream. Leaks on June 30 of 2021 revealed that the game is being referred to in the code of Activision Blizzard's client, Battle.net, as Call of Duty: Slipstream. This came first from a dataminer:
Looks like COD2021s "Codename" was updated.Slipstream is like The Red Door, that is what will show the game as on consoles and PC when someone is playing it pic.twitter.com/V9oddMsuOX

It's not a terrible name, especially in reference to the obscure slipstream literary genre, defined by a blending of historical fiction with sci-fi and fantasy.
That's all we have for now, but make sure to check back in as we'll be updating this article as and when new information becomes available.
