Call of Duty WW2 Vanguard is not even released yet, and already we have leaks hinting that the game will be held back because of the last-gen consoles. Leakers claim that the PS4 and Xbox One will hurt the game's quality on next-gen consoles.

We already know that the 2021 Call of Duty will be called 'Call of Duty WW2: Vanguard'. Well, now we also have news on the 2022 Call of Duty. Apparently, both the latter and the former will be held back by the older consoles. More specifically: The PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One will be the reason why Call of Duty WW2 Vanguard and Call of Duty 2022 will not be as good as they could be.

More on CoD WW2: Vanguard:

Will CoD WW2: Vanguard Be Released for PS4 and Xbox One?

Yes. According to the leaker, Call of Duty WW2: Vanguard will release for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. That's not necessarily a good thing though, as the game's performance on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will likely suffer because of it. Is this surprising? No, not at all. It still is disappointing and worrying though. Mind you that TomHenderson has a great track record with his leaks, so it's worth taking note of this.

Will Call of Duty WW2: Vanguard Have Crossplay?

If TomHenderson's tweet is anything to go by, then... yes, Call of Duty WW2: Vanguard will have crossplay. It is likely that it is exactly said crossplay feature that will hold the game back from achieving true next-gen greatness. Old last-gen consoles will have to be able to handle the game to make cross-gen play possible, meaning that the PS5 and Xbox Series X won't be able to flex their muscles.

While this is disappointing, it's also logical: Of course Call of Duty WWII Vanguard was always going to release on PS4 and Xbox One. Hardly anyone has been able to get their hands on the next-gen consoles and this is not likely to change much throughout the year. Why would Activision risk the huge player base existing on last-gen consoles by making the game PS5 and Xbox Series X exclusive?

I guess PC players have the last laugh here. Except those with a crappy PC that is...
