More details have leaked regarding next year's Modern Warfare 2. We now know the name of its third mode, and have a general idea of how the game mode will work. It certainly sounds familiar...
Modern Warfare 2 is coming soon (how time flies), and as well as building on the work from Modern Warfare 2019, it's going to be introducing a whole new mode. A Zombies mode is still something Infinity Ward aren't going to be messing around with, and Spec Ops...well you saw what happened to Spec Ops in 2019. Instead, they're taking the co-op survivalist route...
What is Modern Warfare 2's Third Mode going to be?
Modern Warfare 2's third mode is called DMZ, and It's going to be a co-operative survival mode on a BR-sized map, much like Escape from Tarkov. This comes directly from a known insider (and now infamous leaker) Tom Henderson. Here's been proven correct on a great many leaks in the past year, with only about 10% turning out to be false. So we're quite confident in this news:
Modern Warfare II's third mode is currently called the DMZ. It's not entirely clear if that's the codename or not yet, but DMZ is MWII's take on Escape From Tarkov.

A DMZ (demilitarized zone), would provide the perfect backdrop for a mode like Escape from Tarkov, and leads us to believe that we can expect another city like Verdansk to be Modern Warfare 2's BR-size map.
How does Escape from Tarkov work?
In Escape from Tarkov you land (either by yourself or with a small squad) in a BR-size map, and you're given an exfil-point on the other side of the map. You have to fight against NPCs to get to that point, scavenging weapons and supplies along the way. It's basically a more casual, and co-operative take on the big map BR format for those who prefer PVE. And it sounds like a much better idea than Spec Ops, which was completely neglected in Modern Warfare 2019.
When is Modern Warfare 2 being released?
Modern Warfare 2 is being released in the fall of 2022. This hasn't been officially revealed, but it's an open secret at this point. Sledgehammer and Treyarch have released the last two games and so now we're back to Infinity Ward, and it's almost unimaginable that they wouldn't release a sequel to their wildly popular Modern Warfare 2019. Besides this logical explanation for MW2, though, there have also been several leaks from various sources that corroborate its ongoing development.
