After five years, a firing range is finally returning to Call of Duty. Both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will be able to access this firing range from the gunsmith.
Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28, and a few weeks later Warzone 2.0 will be released on November 16. There's a lot to be excited for in both, for Warzone 2.0 the new Al Mazrah location will take center stage, and in Modern Warfare 2 we expect the multiplayer maps to be very popular (as we made clear in our review). But there's one feature that we want to see in both products, and we've been asking about it for a long time: a firing range.
A firing range is not exciting. This isn't a mini-game, and it shouldn't be seen as "content" that we're lucky enough to be provided with. But firing ranges should exist in every shooter as a standard feature. Especially for a game with such expansive weapon customization options, we need to be able to test out our weapons before jumping straight into PvP. And the good news, we're finally getting one (again).
Firing Range Returning To CoD, First Time Since WWII
As players who played the campaign via early access discovered, Modern Warfare 2 will come with a firing range that can be accessed from the Gunsmith menu. Awesome. It's not the most impressive firing range we've seen, but it is 100% in the game.
Here is footage of the new firing range, from those with early access:
We would like to see damage numbers and a wider variety of targets, but perhaps in future updates they can add these features. For now, I'm just happy to see that we've got any kind of firing range.
Are you happy to see a firing range in CoD again? Or is this a feature you won't be touching? We'll certainly be using it ourselves. If nothing else, we can use it to refine the ultimate tier-ranking of every weapon in Modern Warfare 2.
