Modern Warfare 3 will, of course, include shotguns. These weapons are always divisive, but luckily they aren't as annoying in MW3 as they have been in the past. If you're in to these weapons, keep reading for our complete ranking of the best MW3 shotguns.
Modern Warfare 3 is going to feature all manner of annoying shit in pubs, and that (of course) includes shotguns. In this game we've got our usual selection of pump and box-fed shotguns, and we've ranked them to save you some time.
Look, shotguns aren't strong in CoD (and that's a good thing), but that there are worse things to use. So we recommend getting them levelled all the same, especially if you play Warzone.
The Best Shotguns In MW3: Complete Ranking
3. Lockwood 680
Shotguns in MW3 are very inconsistent and generally quite weak. Thank god. This is not another Vanguard-style shotgun meta. In Modern Warfare 3 we don't expect shotguns to dominate until something absolutely broken comes along in a later season (and many a bundle with it).
But even in the context of a game with generally poor shotguns, the Lockwood 680 stands out as a weaker shotgun, and we can't see why anyone would use it unless they're just levelling it up for its attachments.
It sounds cool, at least.
2. Riveter
The Riveter is a very cool AR-style full-auto shotgun, with access to high-capacity mags and Dragon's Breath ammo.
It's not going to be able to compete in the overall meta against the best SMGs, which are simply a lot more viable in a lot more situations, but it will be a fun one to play around with on Rust.
The Vault edition skin for the Riveter is badass.
1. Haymaker
Where the Lockwood is a slow pump-action and the Riveter is a fast full-auto, the Haymaker sits in between as a semi-auto. If you have a good trigger finger you can actually get a really impressive fire-rate from the Haymaker. And this, in combination with its impressive range and wide selection of attachments, makes the Haymaker the best shotgun to use in MW3.
The Haymaker can take slugs, a long barrel, and even 20 round mags, so you can make it surprisingly viable on even medium sized-maps. Although, it's obviously still best for something like Rust.
That was our rundown of the best MW3 shotguns. If you're having a hard time levelling these weapons (or you're sick of the abuse your mates are giving you for using shotguns) you can always level them in Zombies. Shotguns aren't great in Zombies, but who cares, it's PvE.
Nicki Minaj? In CoD? Yes please!
