Call of Duty: Vanguard's next playtest event is coming soon - the open beta launches on September 9. And we're starting to get details on the event, including the rules of a new game mode called Patrol. But what is Patrol? And how does Patrol work?

Call of Duty: Vanguard is gearing up for full release in early November. Before that point, we get to try the game for free in the beta playtest. Sledgehammer has just released news on the event and we've been told we'll get to play a new mode called Patrol.

In the alpha playtest we also had a new mode to try - Champion Hill - but it wasn't very popular. It forced campy and passive play and it lacked the drama and tension from the gunfight tourneys upon which it's based. Let's go through the rules for Patrol and see if it looks any better.

What Is Patrol?

Here's how Sledgehammer have described the mode:

Vanguard will introduce another new game mode: Patrol. Based on Hardpoint, this objective-based mode features a scoring zone in near-constant motion; if Operators want to rack up points for their team, they should keep up and move around the map within this Patrol point.

We're curious as to how this will differ from Hardpoint in any way but maybe the objective will move around the map more frequently than usual. This will be popular though, Hardpoint always has been, and especially during the beta when our only other options are Team Deathmatch and Kill Confirmed.
