Stalingrad is a frigid and freezing location for Red Star, and possibly the biggest map in Call of Duty: Vanguard. Here is our map guide, including a few tips and tricks to get you started...
Red Star is a large sized multiplayer map that released with Call of Duty: Vanguard's launch on November 5. It was originally designed for 6v6 matches in standard multiplayer modes, though it is also available at multiple combat pacing's. Set in the icy snows of Stalingrad's winter, it is a bitingly cold map with large open spaces flanked with intense interiors. It is one of the best maps in Call of Duty: Vanguard, and for good reason. Here's the map description:
Stalingrad in winter, based on the pivotal yet long Eastern Front battle. One of the game’s largest maps as featured in the game’s Beta, action here is focused around a central courtyard and the buildings on the perimeter.
The way that Red Star blends intense indoor action, with wide open spaces and sniper perks is absolutely insane, and makes for some of the best matches there are to be had in Call of Duty: Vanguard. Featured and beloved in the Beta, this Vanguard map is bound to turn heads with the perfect combination of short and long-range action. Here is our Red Star Map Guide!
Vanguard Red Star Map Guide: The Map
Call of Duty: Vanguard's Red Star Map consists of a central courtyard, flanked by buildings and a few of the surrounding streets. It perfectly displays the juxtaposition between the expectedly intense indoor sections, with those wide open areas. There is plenty of room here for a whole lot of fun, with the outdoor sections being very exposed, but with a very good balance of cover, so that you are not just a sitting duck whenever you venture from those indoor areas. Vanguard Red Star Map Guide: Gameplay Overview & Tactics
Red Star centres around a big courtyard with a large statue in the middle. When outside, make sure to stick to the plethora of cover at your disposal, and have some longer-ranged weapons with you, as you're going to need them. This map certainly has a decent amount of character to it, and can be a whole lot of fun when you're waging heavy warfare out on the streets of Stalingrad.
This is a moderate-level map, with a lot of variety when it comes to verticality, as well as that disparity between the outdoor and indoor sections of the map. Please keep this in mind when choosing your loadout. You're going to need at least a DMR, if not a Sniper Rifle, but also a secondary that is ideal for close quarters, and plenty of heavy-duty lethals. As we've said, you really need a solid amount of variety in your setup, because you can find yourself in a variety of situations!

They deliberately went off book with Red Star, and did something that Call of Duty hasn't done well in quite a while. There are dipping little lanes that don't really flow with the rest of map if you are playing a standard Team Deathmatch. On the flip side, these lanes open up great opportunities for flanking when playing objective-based modes. The only real negative we have here is that Red Star has some great opportunities for destruction, but fails to implement any of those opportunities. The thing, though, is that this is basically just "the story of Vanguard", so it's not such a big deal.
