Raven and Treyarch just dropped the Season 5 Roadmap. There are new offerings for Warzone, including new perks for the first time, and a new Gulag map. BOCW's Multiplayer and Zombies are also in for a wave of new content. We've got all the details, including the release date, below.

This isn't the most exciting Roadmap at first glance, but the addition of new perks and field upgrades is hugely promising. The new perks might not be the strongest or most fun to use, but it shows that Raven are happy to broaden their potential offerings of new content. And it opens up a whole new design space mid-life-cycle, something Warzone has been dearly lacking.

The rest of the content we're getting looks fairly solid, and the EM2 in particular might prove to be a weapon that can break into the meta. Of personal interest to me, is the mysterious 'numbers' event coming midseason - surely new Red Door shenanigans.

Warzone & BOCW Season 5: Weapons & Operators

Let's start with the obvious, what two weapons are we getting? Available at launch will be two new weapons: an assault rifle called the EM-2 and the iconic TEC-9 submachine gun. These will be available upon completion of levels 15 and 31 of the Battle Pass. We can also expect what looks like a single-barrel shotgun sidearm to arrive mid-season.

For Operators, we're getting three new characters. The headline act is Kitsune, as featured in all the promotional material so far (she's the character in the image above). But in addition to Kitsune, we're getting a generic-looking Operator called Hudson and a poor-mans Tom Fischer called Stryker. Expect Kitsune to have a legendary skin at level 100 of the Battle Pass.

Warzone

Warzone is still the golden child, despite getting a lot of negative PR recently, and so they've lined up quite a lot of new content for the mode:

  • Two new perks - Tempered and Combat Scout.
  • New Points of Interest in Verdansk called Mobile Broadcasting Stations.
  • A new Gulag map, based on a section of the Rush MP map.
  • A midseason event called 'Numbers'.
  • Also coming midseason, a game mode called Clash.

It's a lot to sink our teeth into, the new Gulag is, unfortunately, staying within the 'training room' style adopted since BOCW's integration, so expect it to continue lacking the atmosphere of the OG gulag. But, the new perks, as we mentioned, are hugely exciting.

Like keeping up to speed with all things Call of Duty? Then you've come to the right place, here are some of our recent articles:

BOCW Multiplayer

Despite the ever-declining popularity of Arena play, Treyarch are continuing to support the Multiplayer of BOCW with the following:

  • A new game mode called Double Agent.
  • And a returning fan-favorite game mode later in the season called Demolition.
  • Five new Multiplayer maps (we really are spoiled for them these days). One will be a gunfight map, and the rest will be 6 vs. 6 maps.
  • A new killstreak, the Flamethrower is inbound.

It's a decent offering, but it's hard to be enthused about BOCW's Multiplayer, which is effectively a fast-leveling tool for the meta-chasers.

BOCW Zombies

The Zombies mode continues to hold out with a core fanbase, so we can expect support to continue for at least the foreseeable future. This season:

  • A new outbreak region is coming called Collateral.
  • Outbreak equipment is coming too, a 'grapple gun'.
  • There's also a Tank coming to Zombies (it would be funny to show someone who hasn't played Zombies since CoD: WaW what the mode looks like these days).
  • And saving something big here for last, Zombies is getting a new (and exclusive to the mode) Perk called Death Perception.

If you are into Zombies then there's a good few hours to sink your teeth into here.

When Is Warzone Season 5 Starting?

Season 5 will launch on Thursday, August 12 at 00:00 ET (05:00 BST, 06:00 CEST), although a pre-download will be available from Tuesday, August 10. We've come to know this as the standard release time for new Seasons, so no surprises here. That does mean you've only got a week left to finish your Battle Pass though, so good luck!
