A new third-party companion app for Warzone allows you to see the stats, such as K/D, of the entire lobby during matchmaking. What sounds good at first, however, could also lead to problems.
Companion apps are nothing new in the gaming world. They allow you to track your own stats and show, for example, the K/D or the win/loss ratio or which weapon is played the most, how precise you are with it, and much more. Usually, these apps only show your own stats or those of your friends.
Now at least for the PC, there is a new companion app from a third-party provider for Warzone, which not only makes your own stats accessible in real-time but also those of the entire lobby. In plain language, this means that you can see the stats of all the players who are in a lobby with you at the touch of a button, even during matchmaking. Especially helpful here is the feature that shows you the average K/D of the lobby, but you can also see the average placement of the players, the number of headshots, and much more. You'll easily be able to tell whether your lobby is packed with pros who will kill you in no time, or if you'll have an easy time shaving a bunch of noobs.

Sounds good? We think so, but considering the hated SBMM system, this feature also has some drawbacks, which YouTuber JaredFPS explains well:

Good players complain again and again that they only have to play against professionals thanks to the SBMM. To get around this, they play extra bad (reverse boosting) or in a party with significantly worse players to keep the player level low. With the new companion app, it is now possible to look at the average K/D in matchmaking and simply switch to new lobbies until you find one with a low K/D. This could be especially helpful in tournaments.
This could be a problem though, especially in tournaments. Warzone tournaments usually simply give a period of time for individual players or teams to earn points in public lobbies. They can earn these through placements and kills, which is obviously much easier in lobbies with low K/D. Since using companion apps is not considered cheating so far, tournament organizers will have to think about new rules in the future to prevent players from exploiting these features.
However, as long as you don't use the app to gain an advantage in competitions, we don't see a problem with it.
