A leaker on Twitter has found clues in the game's code that suggest we might be getting planes in Warzone very soon. Is the leak true, and how would Warzone planes work? It's time for a little bit of speculation...
Everyone loves vehicles in Warzone. Verdansk is huge, and an operator needs a way to get across those long distances at speed – thus the need for vehicles. So far we have cargo trucks, quads, tac rovers, dirt bikes, jeeps and helicopters, but what's missing? Well, guys, that's obvious – Warzone planes! Sure, there are the planes you jump out of when you make your way into Verdansk, and there are drones and precision air strikes as killstreaks, but planes that you can use as vehicles? That would be a whole new level of awesome!
Update: A further leak has revealed additional information about the planes coming to Warzone. We've added these new details at the bottom of this article.
Are Planes Coming to Warzone?
Planes may be coming to Warzone, according to recent leaks. Well-known CoD leaker Zesty posted screenshots from the game's code on Twitter, talking about plane spawns for two different teams. Could this have something to do with the new Payload mode in Warzone Season 4: Reloaded? Here's the tweet.
PLANES COMING TO WARZONE?This isn't clickbait..In a script file for Payload, the new 20v20 game mode coming with S4R, I found some interesting file names & script code. There is PLANE spawns for both teams in-game, BUT it could also just be A.I. planes..L+RT pic.twitter.com/KQVb0izm0C

Are Planes Coming in Warzone Season 4: Reloaded?
It is unlikely that planes will come to Warzone in Season 4: Reloaded, if they are coming at all. For one thing, it would be very strange if Raven Software suddenly brought completely new vehicles to a mid-season update (virtually out of nowhere). Additionally, the tweet shows something else exciting: The code constantly talks about "Axis" and "Allies". The planes in particular are called "planeAllies.tga" and "planeAxis.tga". This obviously refers to the two main factions in World War II, the Allies and the Axis.
We don't have Allies and Axis Powers in Warzone – both in Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War storylines – since those games were set after the end of WW2. Thus, we theorize that – if planes are coming to Warzone – they won't come until the inevitable CoD WW2: Vanguard update.

Warzone Planes Might Come With CoD WW2: Vanguard
This year's Call of Duty: Vanguard/Slipstream is rumored to be set in World War 2 again, and we've already had numerous leaks about an upcoming Pacific map for Warzone – this could have planes! Should Vanguard, like BOCW, be integrated into Warzone, we expect that a World War 2 map is coming. Whether it is a Pacific Map or not, it is quite likely that it would feature airplanes.
Despite the fact that we would like to see planes in Warzone in Season 4: Reloaded, a release with the new CoD WW2: Vanguard is far more likely. We're happy to be surprised, though, as Season 4: Reloaded launches this Thursday, July 15.
Update: Warzone Planes Will Have Weapons
A further date leak came to light after this article was written. It seems that the planes in Warzone are getting weapons of some description:
Yet more datamined code for Call of Duty: Vangaurd indicates that the planes in Warzone will have some kind of weapons attached to them. pic.twitter.com/q74ag9VrRs

This will be hugely exciting if it does come to light but at the moment we urge caution, these datamining leaks are often the most speculative and least certain.
