Activision Blizzard's Esports Chief Revenue Officer, Brandon Snow, has revealed vague details for future Warzone Seasons, and thus Season 3. The revelations reveal Activision's future intentions for Warzone, including massive new changes coming very soon.
Speaking to Inverse, Snow spoke about the place that Warzone takes in the Call of Duty franchise, emphasizing its role as CoD's free to play platform, which provides a space for everyone. Along with vague descriptions of Warzone's goal to engage a larger and broader audience, he also let slip a few details about Season 3.
Whilst nothing has been officially announced about Season 3, Snow did let slip a little something...
In the upcoming seasons, you’re going to see some really cool new stuff that Warzone has never done before. It’ll be really exciting and done in a Call of Duty way
What was especially interesting, was his insistence and emphasis on Cold War's 1980s theme as one that offers a lot of cool opportunities for Warzone's future content.
Only Warzone could do things that we have planned in upcoming seasons. Call of Duty: Cold War’s identity and ‘80s theme offer tons of opportunities for innovative content.
We also have to remember that Warzone will be going for a more Fortnite-style live-event system, wherein we will be seeing a ton of excellent new content! Who doesn't want some massive world-changing events like the rumored Nuke Event? That would be awesome!
Additionally, it looks like Warzone is going to become further integrated into the Esports market, especially as the current global pandemic begins to subside. This, however, is despite of the layoffs that CDL and OWL are seeing at the moment.
Warzone Season 3 should be dropping on or around April 22, as the current Season 2 Battle Pass is set to expire on April 21. Let's cross our fingers some f**king great new content... and, of course, that Nuke Event.
