Zombies Chronicles 2 is conspicuously absent from Call of Duty: Vanguard, but we do have some news for you.
It's no mystery that Call of Duty: Vanguard's Zombies mode sucks more than the rest of the game. That's a true indictment on its Zombies mode, seeing as that Call of Duty: Vanguard really isn't a crash hot game in general. Honestly, the only highlight of that game is its Multiplayer, which is just more of the same as well.
Thus, it was a little sad to realize that we weren't even getting a Zombies Chronicles 2, as that could have been one (albeit small) way to redeem this utter disappointment of a game. Now, Treyarch developed the first Zombies Chronicles and released it back in 2017, to great success. Bringing some of the most beloved maps back to the forefront of the Zombies experience was a great way to renew the mode.
Now, Treyarch's Lead Game Designer has spoken out about Zombies Chronicles, saying that its absence is a "painfull situation" for those on the team. He even encouraged fans to "keep asking for Zombies Chronicles 2", as it will prove to management that this is a much-wanted game mode. After such a disappointing Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Vanguard, we're inclined to agree.
Is Zombies Chronicles 2 Coming?
Zombies Chronicles 2 is clearly not in development, but could be on the table if more players fight for it. Treyarch Lead Game Designer, Kevin Drew, admitted as much on Twitter the other day, asking fans to continue requesting it, because the developers would love to make it. The final statement in the Tweet, where Drew mentions that this is "a painful situation at work" suggests a few things about the game's development.

Let's be real, it must have been a tough couple of years for the developers over at Treyarch, having to pump out Black Ops 4 and Black Ops Cold War within the space of only two years. In addition, they were tasked with developing Vanguard's Zombies mode, despite the fact that Sledgehammer Games had a whopping four years to make that travesty of a video game.
What was especially nice about Drews Twitter thread was that he then went on to give a shout-out to another developer, asking people to go and by the HD Onimusha Remake so that "Capcom can get on the rest of the trilogy". He noted that he really looks forward and hopes for the more Onimusha games, saying "I long for Jean Reno and his demon whip".
We have to remember that developers are just people, in the end, and people get stressed and have tough times. It might sound like game development is a dream job - and it is - but it's still a job, and it can still be really tough. Treyarch have had a rough time these last few years, and we want them to take their time making something great, so we hope that we won't see Zombies Chronicles 2 until Treyarch's next full game, slated for 2023.
