CDL Season 2020 is just around the corner and we want to present you with everything you need to know regarding this event. Given the fact that this is by far the biggest CoD esports event ever, we will take a deep dive into the information we have so far, so do not miss out.
What is the Call of Duty League?
Basically, this is a premier professional esports league based around Call of Duty. It is fully organized by Activision.
The entire league supports 12 different teams which are franchised. When it comes to sponsors, these are the most popular ones:

CDL Season 2020 Format and Events
The Call of Duty League will feature a total of 13 events, starting with the Launch weekend, to be attended by all 12 participating teams. After that, each one will host a home series. The rest of the teams will rotate through the home series, with 8 of them competing in each separate spot.
As for the scoring system, this is what you can expect:
- 10 CDL Points for Victory
- 50 CDL Points for 1st place
- 30 CDL Points for 2nd place
- 20 CDL Points for 3rd and 4th place
- 10 CDL Points for 5th and 6th place
- 0 CDL Points for 7th and 8th place
During the home series, the 8 teams will be split into two groups of four. Each of the teams will play against the others from their group. The two squads that get two wins in the group stage will advance to the single-elimination match where the overall tournament winner will be decided.
Season 2020 CDL Championship Weekend
After all 13 events are finished, only the best 8 teams will grab the spot in the Championship weekend.
However, the top four rosters will advance through to the main phase while the other 4 squads will book a spot via Wild Cards.
Why are Wild Cards teams important? They will play single-elimination matches between themselves in order to determine which two teams will advance to the next stage.
In the end, the grand final bout will comprise of the winners bracket and the losers bracket champions. It is important to mention that the losers bracket champions will have to win two separate series to win CDL Season 2020.
