Are fully automatic weapons too boring for you? Anyone can play with them? Then we have the right setup guide for you. The FR 5.56 or FAMAS is especially powerful in Modern Warfare multiplayer but it can also give you the edge in Warzone.

The FR 5.56 is based on the French FAMAS and is the only assault rifle beside the FAL that does not have a fully automatic fire mode. With its3-shot burst mode, it is rather unpopular with many players and most Warzone players probably know it mainly because of its shotgun attachment.

The weapon is actually incredibly strong. Especially in multiplayer, one burst on the upper body is enough to take out your enemy and even in Warzone the armor of an enemy can quickly be shredded. The big disadvantage of the gun is you have to hit the complete 3-round burst. If you don't hit the first burst, you usually don't have the time to do a second one before getting sprayed down by a fully automatic weapon.

The FR 5.56 in Warzone

Since theDMR 14 as well as the AUG and FFAR have been significantly nerfed, it seems that the FR 5.56 could become the new Warzone meta. So far, the weapon has never been played much in Warzone, as it is damn hard to hit complete bursts on a distance, but after a little trial and error, it turns out that the FR 5.56 is an absolute beast in single shot mode.

In single shot mode, for some reason, the FR 5.56 has no damage drop off over distance! Yes, that's right, no matter if the enemy is right in front of you or 300 meters away, as long as you hit him, you always do the same damage. So if you can click fast and have good aim, you can use the weapon like a DMR at all distances, with a huge magazine.

FR 5.56 Setup

To get the best out of the FR 5.56 we recommend the following setup, which works in Modern Warfare as well as in Warzone:

Famas Setup
With these attachments you will land precise hits even at a distance. (Image credit: Activision)

As usual, we focus on optimizing the range and controlling the recoil:

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: FR 24.4" Sniper
  • Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
  • Ammunition: 60 Round Mags
  • Rear Grip: Rubberized Grip tape

The silencer increases the range and hides us when shooting on the minimap. The sniper barrel further increases the effective range, as well as bullet speed and recoil control. The Commando Foregrip and the Rubberized Grip Tape further reduce recoil, which ensures that you can land constant headshots even at long distances. For Warzone we also recommend thelarger magazineso you can take out several armored opponents. If you want to use an optic instead, go for the VLK. For multiplayer, you should exchange the magazine for better ADS speed. The Tactical Laser would be the best choice.

With this setup, you are very precise even at long distances. If you have good aim and your bursts or single shots hit the upper body or the head, the FR 5.56 is one of the fastest assault rifles with the shortest TTK – in multiplayer as well as in Warzone.

Try it out, if you don't rely on fully automatics, we guarantee you'll have a lot of fun with the FR 5.56.
