Call of Duty's Battle Royale mode Warzone is already a huge success on the PC and consoles. A new job posting now suggests that the popular mode will also be coming to mobile.
Battle Royale games are still on everyone's lips and Activision hit the bull's eye with Warzone in March. Worldwide, thanks to crossplay, millions of players can compete with and against each other, and in the future, the player base could grow many times over when Warzone comes for mobile.
Job Advertisement "Reveals" Warzone Mobile
Activision posted a new job post yesterday confirming that there are plans to port Warzone to Mobile. In the job description an "Executive Producer, Features (WZM)" is being sought. Without further reading, it should be immediately clear to everyone that WZM stands for Warzone Mobile. If this is not clear enough, you will get the confirmation in the detailed job description. Among many other items, these are also listed there:
Harvest, adapt and deliver the essential features from Warzone console and PC into their best mobile instantiation. Serve as primary point of contact on Warzone Mobile leadership team for clarity and decisions on user-facing features, UX and overall quality.
It is quite literally written that Warzone should be adapted and ported to mobile devices. What more proof do we need? Further down the line, the description speaks the candidate is to be the contact person in the Warzone mobile guidance team. The job description couldn't be much clearer even if it wanted to but sadly it's no longer available. That means that Activision either deleted it again or the position has already been filled. Your guess is as good as ours.
Standalone Game or Part of CoD: Mobile?
The only question left is whether it will be a stand-alone game or part of the existing CoD: Mobile. Call of Duty: Mobile is now in Season 10 and with more than 250 million downloads is one of the most successful mobile titles ever, with revenues of over $300 million. Since the title already has its own Battle Royale mode, the question now is whether Activision will replace it with Warzone, integrate Warzone as an additional mode, or make Warzone Mobile a completely independent game.
Since titles like PUBG and Fortnite are also hugely successful on mobile phones and partly even offer crossplay, Activision's next step of seems only logical to us. It won't be too long until you can compete against your friends by simply pulling out a phone from your pocket.
