Kaladesh Remastered is the next expansion in the Remastered series on MTGA. At the end of 2020, we’ll be collecting energy, crewing vehicles, and revolting against Tezzeret back in the wondrous, colorful, and ever-optimistic plane of Kaladesh.
The announcement of Kaladesh Remastered somewhat surprised those who were waiting to see if we returned to Ixalan first. The new MTGA set will combine iconic cards from Kaladesh and Aether Revolt. Just like the recently-released Amonkhet Remastered. The exact count of the cards within the expansion won’t be revealed until much later. It is likely that some problematic cards such as Smuggler’s Copter won’t be making it, but other, older reprints will be featured with cool Kaladeshi artwork.
Wizards must be excited about bringing back Saheeli's world because they are aiming for an early release. The recent releases of Jumpstart, Amonkhet Remastered , and The Mythic Invitational contributed with much-needed real-world stats on the health of MTGA's Historic, and those statistics must look really good.
Kaladesh Remasted Reborn on MTGA
The original Standard run of Kaladesh and Aether Revolt back in 2016-2017 was marked by a few notable things.
First, the set introduced a brand-new card type, vehicles, and an innovative mechanic - energy. Both of these changed the game and found places in the best Standard decks at the time. Kaladesh also introduced eternal format staples such as Fatal Push and Walking Ballista that see heavy play to this day.
Second, the power level of the game was pushed, and we saw bannings in Standard. Wizards let a pesky 2-card infinite combo slip past their internal playtesting and for a short while we had an infinity of cats produced by Saheeli Rai and Felidar Guardian. There was also the infamous Smuggler’s Copter that was an auto-include in most decks. Luckily, Kaladesh Remastered on MTGA should be carefully curated and all problems made in the past should be a non-issue this time around.
Kaladesh Remastered should be out before the end of the year. It will most likely have its own mini-preview season, followed by a release and a ton of limited events. All cards will be optimized for better gameplay inside MTGA and balanced to be used in the ever-growing Historic format.
