One of the most legendary Counter-Strike players, all shapes and forms of the game, almost retires. Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund has decided to take a step back from competitive gaming. The Swede leaves many great memories and as many trophies as his legacy and plans to focus more on streaming in the near future.
Ask a hundred Counter-Strike fans over the age of 20 to name the first player that comes to mind when you mention the popular first-person shooter and 80 of them would say GeT_RiGhT. The other 20 would probably name his equally legendary teammate f0rest. The former has somewhat retired from professional CS:GO.

GeT_RiGhT Steps Down from Competitive CS:GO
GeT_RiGhT, the star of late 1.6 and early Global Offensive, is not exactly retiring, but retiring maybe, almost certainly, from competitive Counter-Strike. The player shared that his competitive streak is never going to die, so a return in the future isn't completely ruled out, but for the tme being he is going to focus on streaming and pull away from the professional circuit.
The ESL One Cologne 2014 CS:GO Major champion was named top player in 2013 and 2014 by hltv.org and was part of the most legendary lineup in CS:GO history - the 87-0 Ninjas in Pyjamas. The mad had been on the decline ever since that 2014, however, and 2019 finally saw the split between the now 29-year-old player and his organization.

A failed comeback attempt with Dignitas confirmed the truth none of us boomers wanted to accept - GeT_RiGhT's glory days were way behind him. The last few weeks of teases by the player himself and BBC messing their info up pretty much spoiled the surprise and suggested something Valorant-themed for the Swede.

While a move to the Riot shooter's pro scene is not happening (at this point), GeT_RiGhT will most likely appease those that want to see him play some Valorant during his streams. His streaming days will continue under the hat of his last CS:GO org - Dignitas.
Whatever Mr. Alesund plans on doing in the future, the CS:GO community will always have his back and would greet him like a king if and when he decides to come back.
