We have never had to wait so long for the announcement of a new Call of Duty. We've been relying on leaks for far too long, but it is what it is and thanks to another break of information, we can say that we know how the new CoD will be called.
We're used to new Call of Duty titles being announced by May at the latest but this year everything is out of order and so is the CoD cycle. We're yet to receive anything official from developer or publisher. What we do have are a ton of leaks.

It has been speculated for some time that the new Call of Duty could be sort of a reboot of the Black Ops series. The name Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has also been under discussion for some time. Thanks to Doritos, yes - Doritos, we might have gotten confirmation on that name at last.

This Doritos promo ad features the name and logo of the upcoming Call of Duty title and promotes 2XP when you buy Doritos, as well as the chance to win a full year of 2XP. Another picture adds a date to the mix - October 5, 2020, which is even more stuff to circle rumors around.
October 5 is the launch date of the Doritos advertising campaign. Since Mountain Dew already had an advertising campaign for Modern Warfare in 2019 and Doritos and Mountain Dew both belong to PepsiCo, it might be possible to deduce more from the date. Mountain Dew's ad campaign also started in early October and Modern Warfare was released at the end of the same month. If Doritos follows a similar advertising strategy to Mountain Dew, we can probably expect the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War to be sometime at the end of October.

What continues to confuse us and the community is that neither publisher Activision nor developer Treyarch have commented on the new Call of Duty at all. If the game is going to be released at the end of October, an official announcement should come our way soon enough. Tom Henderson, a well-known insider, posted the following on Twitter:
August 5 is the date on which we expect Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/Warzone Season 5 to launch. Connecting the dots already, are we? It has been suspected for quite some time that the new Call of Duty will be unveiled during a Warzone event, August 5 is most definitely a date every CoD fan should circle on the calendar.
