Just in time for the Chinese New Year, Valve have released the New Bloom event. Marking the occasion, players will be able to earn festive rewards.
What is New Bloom?
New Bloom is the in-game celebration of the Chinese New Year, and it’s been somewhat consistent for the third year in a row. This will be the 5th edition of the event and the third year in a row after it skipped 2017 and 2018. Much like Frostivus or any other Battlepass players will be able to earn rewards. Simply playing normal games will grant you 200 points, while Turbos earn you 100 points. There’s also the 1250 first win of the day bonus. All of these will accumulate into a maximum of 20 levels. Every few levels or so, a new reward will be unlocked.
The rewards
Much like in almost any previous edition of New Bloom, there’s a dedicated skin bundle to celebrate the festival. Here’s what the one for 2020 contains:
Besides skins, there are also three chat wheel sounds and consumables you can use in every match – Firecrackers, Tree Decorations, Dancing Lions, and Balloons to commemorate the Year of the Rat. All of the consumables can be recharged by gaining levels or by purchasing them with shards through the Dota Plus store.
The fountain regeneration effect also got modified along with last-hit visuals and a reskin of both Dire and Radiant tower models. High five also makes a return, much like it was available throughout Frostivus. The reward wheel is also here, granting players a chance to win a free arcana set or any other bundle. There’s just one small difference, reaching a specific amount of level points will grant you a ticket which you must send to a friend. Essentially the only way is to exchange rewards with your friends.
New Bloom will be available from January 24 to February 3, 2020. Wheel spins and consumables will last a bit longer and expire on February 19.
