The Dota 2 OMG BET Cup is a small event between the Dota 2 Bukovel Minor and the Leipzig Major. What’s it all about?
If you’re in the mood for some CIS Dota 2, the OMG BET Cup 2 is the tournament for you. Technically, teams from Europe are also included, but in this case, there’s just one.
Just like the name might suggest, the event is sponsored by OMG.BET, an esports betting platform. The OMG Bet Cup 2’s total prize pool stands at $4,000 – rather low, even for a Tier 2 Dota tournament. Only the top 3 teams will take a chunk of the prize as follows:
- First place: $2,000
- Second place: $1,250
- Third place: $750
The tournament will last between January 13 and 17. Tomorrow, we’ll see the Upper Bracket finals and the entirety of the Lower bracket, while the grand finals will unfold on the last day.
The teams
Here’s who is competing at the Dota 2 OMG.BET Cup 2:
- Vikin.gg
- jfshfh178
- Team Empire Hope
- Nemiga Gaming
- Majori edut na Minor
- Modus Unity
- Gentlemen (Now ForZe as the roster was signed by the organization)
- Khan
All of the Dota 2 teams received a direct invitation to the event. The sole exception is Khan, who had to make it through a closed qualifier. As mentioned above, only Vikin.gg are there to represent Europe while every other competitor hails from the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Team jfshfh178 was rather recently created – its most notable member probably being Vladimir “Chappie” Kuzmenko. He is mostly known for frequently using the Shadow Amulet griefing method in pub matches. Chappie has played for both Team Empire and The Pango in the past and he recently left Vikin.gg, so it’d be interesting to see which team will prevail.
So far, ForZe have secured a spot in the Upper Bracket finals and judging by their performance, there’s a good chance they might take the event.
