The last Dota 2 Major, for the competitive 2019-2020 season, the ONE Esports Singapore event, is now officially canceled.
The coronavirus pandemic is still going in full swing across the world with some countries having it worse than others. Recently, Valve revealed that the biggest Dota 2 event of the year – The International – is getting postponed and eventually moved to 2021.

After every other remaining event of the Dota Pro Circuit got canceled or postponed too, it comes as no surprise that the ONE Esports Singapore followed the trend. The news came directly from PGL who were the organizers for the tournament:

ONE Esports Singapore was supposed to conclude the competitive season and give teams one final chance at making it to The International. The Singapore Major was originally scheduled for June 20-28 but is now officially canceled. According to the information found on the official ONE Esports website:
The ONE Esports Singapore Major Presented by PGL will be canceled. The Dota Pro Circuit event was scheduled to take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on June 20-28. The Singapore government has announced that gatherings of more than 250 people have to be suspended until June 30.

ONE Esports is committed to delivering top-notch experiences for Dota 2. These changes were tough to make, but they were necessary. We place great importance on the health and safety of our esports athletes, staff, and fans.
Not postponed, canceled. But is it really? ESL One Los Angeles was originally about to get canceled until it got turned into an online event. The Dota PIT Minor which was canceled in March has also returned in the form of an online tournament strictly for the region of China.

Chances are we’ll see ONE Singapore making a return in the upcoming month(s). The same holds true for the EPICENTER Major which is another candidate. Currently, there are quite a few online events running – The Epic Prime League, The Dota 2 Pushka League, and BLAST's Bounty Hunt, just to name a few. The latter is set to come to an end tomorrow and Virtus.pro’s new squad Prodigy has had quite the run.
In the meantime, the global pandemic is still restricting travel across the world. Until the measures are removed and the situation gets under control we probably won’t be seeing any LAN events. That’s a shame since the offline tournaments truly showed the spirit of competitive gaming and moved fans a step closer to their favorite game and stars. Stay tuned for more Dota 2 updates.
