Former Dota 2 player Alexander “Flow” Sazonov passed away yesterday after fighting cancer for several years.
The Dota 2 community was shaken yesterday as Alexander “Flow” Sazonov lost the battle with cancer.
Flow started his Dota 2 career back in 2015 and over the course of time has played for some of the biggest organizations in the CIS region. Some of the most notable teams he starred in include Team Empire, Elements Pro, Double Dimension, Vega Squadron, and FlyToMoon.

He got diagnosed with cancer in January 2018 while he was with Double Dimension but even that didn’t stop him from pursuing his passion in the Dota 2 pro scene. After receiving surgery, he went back to playing and all seemed well for the time being. Unfortunately, the disease returned and this time it had a lethal outcome. According to his VK fan page, he was feeling good until August when his health started to deteriorate. That’s when he realized cancer returned and had to go back to chemotherapy. According to the same page he fought until the very end and believed he’ll be able to defeat the disease.

Flow passed away in the early hours of September 30 leaving those close to him grieving. Our condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
Sazonov will remain an inspiration for anyone trying to pursue a pro career not only in Dota 2 but as a whole showing us that when you’re passionate about something you’ll stop at nothing.
