The first season of the Dota 2 China Pro League for 2019-2020 came to an official end yesterday with PSG.LGD taking the title of champions. And just as you thought China’s league was done, another one came as Mars Media announced that season 7 of the Dota2 Professional League will commence on April 4.

The Dota 2 Professional League (DPL) has been running for quite some time now. Its first edition came back in 2016 and ever since then it’s the go-to event for quality Dota 2. It not only supports the best teams in the region by giving them a chance to shine but also provides a proving ground for new teams with the DSPL. It quickly became the most recognizable league in the world and will probably continue to hold the title even with Valve’s plans to restructure the competitive scene for next season. DPL will last from April 4 to April 26 with a total prize pool of $100 000. According to the official post by Mars Media, the DPL initially planned to take a long break, so teams can focus on the Dota Pro Circuit events instead:
After the conclusion of the sixth edition, it was decided that DPL would take a break in order to allow teams to fully focus on Valve sanctioned events as well as international LAN events. The recent circumstances have allowed to re-introduce both DPL and DSPL therefore giving a chance to Chinese teams to practice in preparation for the upcoming events.
Season 6 of DPL came to an end in December 2018, so it’s been over a year since we last saw the league. Champions then were Vici Gaming and the team is still a top performer today. The list of teams for season 7 of DPL is as follows:
- Team Aster
- CDEC
- EHOME
- Invictus Gaming
- Keen Gaming
- PSG.LGD
- Royal Never Give Up
- Vici Gaming
In addition, the DSPL will also make a return with a prize pool of approximately $7000 and another 8 teams who’ll fight to earn their spot in the world.
- Blaze
- EHOME.I
- IG.V
- LFS
- Luminous
- Sirius
- TypHOON
- YKW
All of the games will be broadcasted on the Chinese platforms - Douyu, Huya, Huomao and Bilibili.
In other news, the China Dota 2 Professional League Season 1 came to an end on Sunday with PSG.LGD grabbing the grand title. LGD defeated Vici Gaming in the grand finals after 5 contested games and grabbed over $100,000 in prize money. It might be a bit confusing as the two leagues are completely different, but the names are quite similar. To make things even more complex, the attending teams in both the DPL and the China Professional League Season 1 are almost identical. A second season for the China Professional League will start on April 1 and it will run all the way up until June 14. Here’s also the list of teams:
- EHOME
- Invictus Gaming
- Keen Gaming
- CDEC Gaming
- Newbee
- PSG.LGD
- Royal Never Give Up
- Sparking Arrow Gaming
- Team Aster
- Vici Gaming
