The freshly formed superstar Dota 2 Chinese team Elephant have take their first title with the conclusion of the China Pro Cup Season 2.
The Dota 2 China Pro Cup Season 2 kicked off roughly two weeks ago on November 14 and came to an end yesterday. The event featured eight of the best teams from the region:
- Elephant
- Vici Gaming
- EHOME
- PSG.LGD
- Invictus Gaming
- Team Aster
- Royal Never Give Up
- Sparking Arrow Gaming
PSG.LGD were the favorites to make it to the top after their recent victory in the CDA-FDC Season 2 and the fact they won China Pro Cup Season 1. The group stage showed us a different story as Vici Gaming, Elephant, Team Aster, and EHOME were in the top four which secured them a spot in the upper bracket.
Things got narrowed down even further once the playoffs started. Team Aster made their way to the grand final after defeating Elephant and EHOME. In the lower bracket, Elephant defeated PSG.LGD and EHOME earning a chance to exact their revenge on Aster. In the series against EHOME we also saw the biggest gold lead in the Dota 2 pro scene with over 150k. If you want to check out the game, the match ID is 5721499236.
The grand finals weren’t as grand as we imagined. Elephant managed to make quick work of Aster by taking the champion’s title after only three games.
As we’ve already mentioned this is Elephant’s first tournament title. Sure they’ve had a rough start and a lot of drama. So much that 4AM pulled out of the Dota 2 scene, leaving the Chinese star players at the hands of Elephant alone. After all that they seem to be in the clear. The team showed great potential even in the first event they attended but after this one, all eyes will be on them. The Elephant roster consists of:
- Zhang "Eurus" Chengjun
- Lu "Somnus丶M" Yao
- Zhou "Yang" Haiyang
- Xu "fy" Linsen
- Ru "RedPanda" Zhihao
