Dota 2’s Epic League is currently the biggest ongoing event with some of the best teams from Europe and the CIS split into two divisions. Who’s in the lead?

Epic League kicked off a week ago. After that much time, we already saw some interesting series and clear leaders in the group stage. Without further ado let’s check out what happened.

Let’s start by saying that the group stage of Epic League is still far from over and there’s plenty of time for things to go around. The groups will end on December 5 and until then a lot can change. So far Natus Vincere and Vikin.gg are in the lead. Na'Vi defeated Alliance, Team Liquid, and the newly formed stack Just Error. Vikin.gg. The once-considered underdogs of Europe have managed to defeat Team Liquid, utterly stomp Team Secret and secure a victory over mudgolems yesterday. That’s THE Team Secret, the squad that many of us considered unbeatable until they start losing in ESL One Germany where they placed fourth.

On the bottom end of the groups, we have Team Liquid and Alliance. As we’ve already mentioned Liquid lost to Na’Vi, Vikin.gg, and Just Error. Liquid were the champions of ESL One Germany but it looks like they’re in trouble now. Alliance are in the same situation after suffering losses to Na'Vi, OG, and most recently Team Nigma. Both Liquid and Alliance still have a chance to survive the group stage.

All the remaining squads are somewhere in-between and it’s still hard to tell whether they’ll move to the top or the bottom. Virtus.pro’s new main squad did surprisingly well in their debut series versus OG, taking it with 2-0. Yesterday the team defeated their former teammates that are now part of Just Error. Team Nigma have definitely seen an improvement after the return of Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi. They had a rocky start losing to mudgolems but managed to beat OG and yesterday even bested Alliance.

There are three series for today and one is already

  • Vikin.gg vs. OG- 02:00 PM CET (at the time of writing of this article Vikin.gg have the lead)
  • Team Nigma vs. Just Error – 05:00 PM CET
  • Team Secret vs. Team Liquid - 08:00 PM CET

You can catch all the action on the official Epicenter Twitch channel. The tournament’s playoffs are set to kick off on December 8 and the champions will be determined on December 13.

In Division 2 of the event, it's total domination by Yellow Submarine. The team is currently on an unstoppable win streak and there's no end in sight as their spot in the playoffs is guaranteed. At the same time, 5men decided their time together has come to an end. The underdogs disbanded and for now, none of the former members have joined a new team.
