The Dota Pro Circuit’s first season is underway and now we have news about the first Major in 2021. Dota 2 fans in Singapore should be excited!
When was the last time we saw a Dota 2 Major? That long-ago eh. The last one we can think of is the Los Angeles Online, but it wasn’t a LAN so does it even count? That means it must be the Leipzig Major aka DreamLeague Season 13. It was back in the end of January 2020, so that’s over a year since we saw an official Valve-sponsored event part of the DPC.

The Dota Pro Circuit for 2021 kicked off a couple of weeks ago and we already have a good idea which teams might end up at the top. Now we also know where the first Dota 2 Major for 2021 will be. Singapore!

The Singapore Major is scheduled for March 27 and will conclude on April 4. It’ll feature 18 of the best teams from around the globe and the slots will be distributed as follows:
- Europe: 4
- China: 4
- Southeast Asia: 3
- CIS: 3
- North America: 2
- South America: 2
The top teams will be competing for a total prize pool of $500,000 and 2700 DPC points. The latter are probably more important than the prize money as there are no open qualifiers for TI this year.
This will be the second Dota 2 Major in Singapore, 14 months after the first one:

After running The Manila Major and The Kuala Lumpur Major, we are now returning with another memorable event in Southeast Asia. We are committed to this region with a strategic partnership with Singapore’s primary trade association for esports; the Singapore Games Association (SGGA), and we are more than happy to run great events for SEA and Dota 2 over and over again
It will also be the first major with a broadcast in 4K 60 fps. Woah!
March 4 Update
The Singapore Major is happening and most of the teams are already clear. Here are the 14 teams we know so far:

The remaining four will be coming from the region of China which is set to conclude on March 13.
No audience at the Major
PGL has revealed that there won't be a live audience at the Singapore Major.
The first DOTA 2 Major since January 2020 will be played without fans in attendance.
PGL CEO, Silviu Stroie added:
Having an on-site event during this period is a major accomplishment, and we're delighted to run this fantastic event which will set the stage for the best teams in the world. The DOTA 2 community deserves a top-notch tournament, and we want to assure everyone that we'll do our best to provide an amazing experience for the viewers. We will take all the measures needed to have a safe tournament in a healthy environment. We would also like to thank Singapore for having us, the only place where running such a large international tournament is possible!
The teams will still be playing a LAN but if you wanted to visit Singapore for the first Dota 2 major of 2021 - it's not happening.
