The Dota 2 team 5men was formed by some well-known players. Just yesterday, 5men announced they're disbanding in the middle of the Epic League tournament.

Despite not being signed by one of the big Dota 2 organizations in Europe, 5menmanaged to make a name for themselves. The roster of 5men consisted of:

  • Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard
  • Rasmus “Chessie” Blomdin
  • Andreas “Xibbe” Ragnemalm
  • Rasmus “MiSeRy” Fillipsen
  • Johan “pieliedie” Åström

The team participated in some of the biggest Dota 2 events in the past few months – OMEGA League, OGA Dota PIT Season 3,BTS Pro Series Season 3, ESL One Germany 2020,DOTA Summit 13 and the Epic League. While they managed to earn a spot in all of these events, the team certainly lacked results and failed to make it big. Epic League’s Division 2 proved to be their final event, as, yesterday, the team announced that they’re officially disbanding.

The main reason behind the decision was revealed by the team’s mid-laner, Chessie.

By the looks of it, some players will now be focusing on streaming, so expect more content on Twitch. None of the former members have announced whether they’ll be joining a new team right away, so stay tuned for an update on that front.

In the meantime, the team’s disbandment had a direct effect on the Epic League Division 2 schedule. The organizers already announced that all of 5men’s matches will be counted as losses.

To think that some of us considered 5men the favorites for Division 2 of the Epic League... Well, surprises still happen in the Dota 2 competitive scene after all.
