Were you busy watching ESL One Germany? The Chinese Dota 2 CDA-FDC event ended yesterday and PSG.LGD took home the title leaving 4AM in second place.
On the same day, ESL One Germany came to an end, another event was also drawing its final breath – The CDA-FDC. The Chinese Dota 2 event gathered some of the best teams from the region including the newly formed star roster of Elephant.4AM.
The tournament had eight teams in total:
- PSG.LGD
- Team Aster
- Invictus Gaming
- EHOME
- Royal Never Give Up
- Elephant.4AM
- Team MagMa
- Sparking Arrow Gaming
By the end of the group stage, two teams were already out – Team MagMa and Sparking Arrow Gaming. Both had some rough matchups and didn’t manage to win a single series but who can blame them with opponents like these.
Jumping into the playoffs PSG.LGD and 4AM already had a direct seed in round two. RNG managed to defeat 4AM in the group stage and history repeated itself in the playoffs again with a 2:0 victory for Royal Never Give Up. PSG.LGD defeated EHOME and then went through RNG, securing a spot in the grand finals.
4AM got knocked down to the lower bracket but they weren’t done yet. Crawling back from the depths of the bracket they defeated Invictus Gaming, Team Aster, and exacted their revenge on RNG. This put the star team against PSG.LGD. Those were the finals everyone wanted. The Chinese superstar squad versus the star organization. Some members of 4AM like Xu "fy" Linsen and Lu "Somnus丶M" Yao called PSG.LGD a home just over a month ago.
The grand finals were just as exciting as you imagined. It took the maximum of five games before a winner was declared as the two teams were trading blow for blow. In the end, PSG.LGD took the title after a 51-minute long fifth game. Cheng "NothingToSay" Jin Xiang did some really good RP plays on his Magnus which were just enough to secure victory for his team.
After barely missing a title in the OGA Dota Pit Season 3 China, PSG.LGD takes $30,000 in prize money for first place here. 4AM’s first tournament gave us a glimpse of what the team can do and there’s a high chance they’ll get even better as time goes by. The superstar team had some transfer issues, but their performance was on point.
