The Chinese superstar team Elephant.4AM will participate in their first event. The CDA-FDC Professional Championship was already announced and it's coming on October 22.

With the global pandemic still causing havoc around the world, Dota 2 events have switched to an online format. Some regions, like China, haven’t had as many tournaments in the last few months but that may soon change.

The CDA-FDC Professional Championship

China’s latest Dota 2 event is coming October 22 with the CDA-FDC professional championship. It’s part of the CDA League and it’ll include some of the biggest organizations in the region. Eight teams will compete for the bigger share of the $80,000 (¥600,000) prize pool. Six of them received direct invitations while two more will be determined by qualifiers:

  • EHOME
  • PSG.LGD
  • Team Aster
  • Elephant.4AM
  • Royal Never Give Up
  • Invictus Gaming
  • TBD
  • TBD

The qualifiers for the event have already kicked off today and only two will make it further from the six participants:

  • Sparking Arrow Gaming
  • iG Vitality
  • Team Sirius
  • Team MagMa
  • Aster.Aries
  • CDEC Gaming

The two winners will become clear by Wednesday, just a day before the start of the main event.

4AM’s First Event

The newest Dota 2 team in the Chinese region, Elephant.4AM, was officially announced a few weeks back but we still haven’t seen them in action. We’ve only heard of the drama surrounding the team as the organization already had some issues signing some players. They also backed away from hiring their coach at the last minute.

Currently, 4AM’s roster is as follows:

  • Zhang "Eurus" Chengjun
  • Lu "Somnus丶M" Yao
  • Zhou "Yang" Haiyang
  • Xu "fy" Linsen
  • Ru “RedPanda" Zhihao
  • Chen "Xz" Zezhi (assistant coach)

Now, that’s an impressive lineup. In theory, 4AM have the potential to take first place in the region. A lot of sacrifices were made in the last big roster shuffle as in order to form this superstar team players left the lines of PSG.LGD, Vici Gaming, and Sparking Arrow Gaming.

The upcoming event will test the new team’s metal and we’ll see how they perform against some of the best in the region. Vici Gaming were the big winners in OGA Dota PIT Season 3 China where they defeated PSG.LGD in the grand finals. Sadly, they’re missing in the list of invitees. The groups for the CDA-FDC professional championship have already been determined.

Group A

  • EHOME
  • Elephant.4AM
  • Royal Never Give Up
  • TBD

Group B

  • PSG.LGD
  • Invictus Gaming
  • Team Aster
  • TBD

4AM are arguably in the easier group as PSG.LGD are the favorites to take the champion’s title. What do you think? Will 4AM win their first tournament? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page!
