DOTA Summit 12 is already running full speed and the group stage is halfway through. With day two almost upon us, we take a look back at the events of day one.
The winners
The SEA powerhouse has proven to be the best in day one with two decisive victories against Team Liquid and Cloud9. In both cases, Kam "Moon" Boon and Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon were on fire. Fnatic is the only team in the event without a loss or even a draw so far. Today they’ll have to face Thunder Predator, OG Seed, and Evil Geniuses.OG Seed managed to draw two series against Evil Geniuses and Thunder Predator. EG were the favorites to take an early lead in the group stage, but their performance in the day left many fans wondering. The blue team managed to defeat Predator and while the South American team lost, they’ve been performing rather well with one loss, one draw and one victory.
The losers
Team Liquid had a rough start losing to Fnatic in the opening series and later to OG Seed. Their only success came against Cloud9. In day two they’ll still have a chance to redeem themselves as two more series await them. The same can’t be said about Cloud9 as they’re currently the only team with three losses and things are not looking good for them. The squad was just assembled and fans can clearly tell that there’s a lack of synergy between the players. Cloud9’s only hope to make it to the playoffs will be to win the remaining two series against Evil Geniuses and OG Seed. Judging by the results they’ve shown us so far that’s probably not gonna happen. The top four teams from the group stage will advance to the playoffs while the bottom two will get eliminated. Cloud9 sure seem like they’re guaranteed to go home, while the second may be either Team Liquid or Thunder Predator. DOTA Summit 12 resumes at 9:00 PDT and will kick off with the series between Liquid versus EG and Fnatic against OG Seed. You can join in on the show at the BTS official Twitch channel.
