We're getting closer and closer to Christmas Eve, so to get you in the mood, here are the 5 best Netflix movies to fully enjoy the Christmas season the right way.
It's this time of the year again, when it gets awfully cold outside and all you want to do is get under a warm and cozy blanket and drink some hot chocolate. Christmas is supposed to be more, though. It is supposed to be a time you enjoy with your family, baking cookies, laughing and just coming together, enjoying the holiday spirit.
Thankfully, Netflix is ready to provide a bunch of movies to kill your inner Grinch and get you in the mood for Christmas. So here is a list of movies you should definitely watch this year. They’re sickly-sweet and, but that’s what Christmas movies are all about. Enjoy
Scrooge
This list is all about getting you into the Christmas mood, so why not start it off with a movie that pretty much does the same with its titular character?
Scrooge is all about a grumpy old man that hates Christmas. He's a selfish old miser and pretty much the OG Grinch.
On Christmas Eve, Scrooge gets visited by the spirits of the past, the present and the future and gets sent on a hellish journey to rekindle his Christmas spirit. For the viewer, though, it is a quite entertaining ride, which you can thoroughly enjoy.
A Christmas Carol is a must-watch for every Christmas fan and hater alike, and Netflix's Scrooge adaptation shines with great visuals, performances and songs.
Let it snow
So let's get into our first typical Netflix RomCom, Christmas Edition. It's a Netflix movie, so it's not the crème de la crème, but still one of the best Christmas movies you can find on the platform.
The movie is a fun story about a small town getting hit by a snowstorm on Christmas Eve that brings together a cast of young people. Obviously, there is a love story in there, too. There are a lot of breakups, makeups, make-outs etc.
Somehow the movie manages, to not be your typical TV holiday movie fare, and a charming cast helps the movie dash through its drearier moments. So this one might be more interesting for a younger audience, but you can still enjoy it as an adult.
Love Hard
Our next suggestion tries to flip a lot of the classic Christmas tropes on their head, and it works well. We're talking about Love Hard, which is by far and away one of the best Christmas movies on Netflix.
The film tricks you into thinking it’s going to go down the cliché Netflix route: successful businesswoman from the city goes to the countryside and meets a hunk, and realizes family and love is more important etc. etc.
But when the successful businesswoman arrives in the country, she discovers she’s been catfished and the “hunk” she was supposed to meet is a guy that looks completely different. Hilarity ensues. Oh, and don't worry, there will still be a beautiful love-interest in the movie. There always is.
Klaus
And to end, Klaus. We know, we know, this is actually quite well-known now. But there are probably some older viewers out there that saw the film was animated, and assumed it was just for kids.
And it definitely is a family film, but it’s also absolutely fantastic. And it deals with more complex and challenging themes than the promo material suggests. Well-worth a watch if you haven’t checked it out already.
Klaus is definitely my favorite movie on this List, and maybe even favorite Christmas movie overall. Oh wait, no, that's Die Hard or Gremlins... But it's my favorite christmassy Xmas movie, for sure!
Those were our favorite, slightly less well-known Christmas films. Okay guys, until next time, have a good one, and of course, have a very merry Christmas.
