So you've just finished Netflix's latest whodunit, Fool Me Once, and you want to know whether a follow-up season is in development? Will we get a Fool Me Twice? Sadly, we don't have anything official for you, but we can make an educated guess based on the other adaptions Netflix have made from the novels of Harlan Coben.
Fool Me Once is a compelling thriller series based on a novel of the same name by Harlan Coben. It was released by Netflix on New Year's Day 2024.
Ex-army captain Maya Stern (Michelle Keegan) is still in mourning for her husband Joe Burkett (Richard Armitage) who was brutally murdered, but then she sees an unthinkable image on her nanny cam, her two-year-old daughter playing with her husband. So, was he really murdered, or is he still alive? And if so, who can Maya trust?
It's fascinating stuff, but those questions are all answered in Season 1. Now, you want a more pressing question answered: Will there be a second season?
Will Fool Me Once Be Renewed By Netflix?
Unfortunately, we don't expect Fool Me Once to get a second season or a spinoff. The show was made as part of an ongoing deal between Netflix and author Harlan Coben, and this was his seventh novel adapted for TV. The previous six adaptions have all been "Limited Series" of just six to eight episodes, with Coben exec-producing, before moving on to the next adaption. And all signs point to the same thing happening with Fool Me Once.
Netflix has not officially spoken on the matter, but a spinoff or sequel to Fool Me Once is so unlikely that they don't need to. Even if they wanted to do more with the cast, there's no source material to base a sequel on; Fool Me Once is a standalone novel, not a series. But hey, at least you can enjoy other Netflix shows based on books from the same author?
