Benedict “hyhy” L. H. Yong and Dominik “Black^” Reitmeier were signed over yesterday by the brand-new esports agency – Emerge.
It has been some time since we last heard of Benedict “hyhy” L. H. Yong and Dominik “Black^” Reitmeier.
Yong is a beloved Dota 2 pro in the SEA region and last played in the competitive scene back in 2017. His pro career in Dota 2 kicked off in 2011, and a year later, he retired until 2014. Hyhy played for a few more years until retiring again in 2017. He last played for White Fries Gaming. The player is currently 30 years old, which might seem like a lot in many esports titles, but it’s not a problem in Dota 2. After all, Team Secret’s captain Clement “Puppey” Ivanov is also the same age. Hyhy was also one of the three players featured in the Valve-sponsored Free to Play documentary.
Then we have Dominik “Black^” Reitmeier. The German star player is much more active in the Dota 2 scene when compared to hyhy as he has played for a couple of teams in the past year. In 2020 he was briefly part of the South Korean T1 and then joined LGD International before becoming a free agent again. Black hasn't played in the past six months. Despite being born in Germany, Reitmeier currently lives in Singapore, so joining a SEA organization only makes sense.
Now, the two players are officially part of Emerge, a startup esports agency project. Sadly, they won’t be forming a professional Dota 2 team, at least not yet. Black and hyhy are currently featured as talents on the organization’s official website.
It’s uncertain exactly what role they’ll but we’re sure more info will come so expect further updates. Are you excited about what’s next for the two players? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page!
