Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Suicide Squad, as well as potential spoilers for The Suicide Squad 2.
The Suicide Squad director James Gunn has teased a little something about the series' upcoming sequel, in a cryptic tweet sent out on Tuesday, August 31. Consequently, the actor of said-character responded in-kind, and a whole lot of comedy ensued. Who is still alive in The Suicide Squad 2? Let's check it out...

Who is Actually Alive in The Suicide Squad 2?
The Detachable Kid, played by Nathan Fillion in this year's The Suicide Squad, may be alive and kicking, according to the film's director. In a not-so-cryptic Tweet, James Gunn more-or-less confirmed that T.D.K, also known as The Detachable Kid, is not actually dead.
In the Tweet, James Gunn points to the fact that TDK isn't listed as dead on the life signals in the Comms hub. The Detachable Kid was played by Nathan Fillion, who tweet-replied to James Gunn's revelation... In classic Nathan Fillion-style, it was a pretty hilarious response:
I noticed that very loudly when I saw this in the theater. Apologies again, for the disturbance. #TSSWatchParty https://t.co/NcpmMGKIVe
— Nathan Fillion (@NathanFillion) August 31, 2021
TDK died in The Suicide Squad quite early on, after slapping a number of rebel gunmen. After his slaps fall on hard faces, he gets non-surprisingly shot to pieces. It was a hilarious scene, and showed off Fillion at his best. Just pure best. Ah, I'm going to go and watch Firefly again. Seriously, right now, bye...
Okay, I'm back! There has been speculation that The Detachable Kid would be making a return in a potential sequel to The Suicide Squad, or even Gunn's upcoming Peacemaker series. This was confounded by James Gunn's insistence that "maybe one more" character (other than those he listed in the original quote, that is) will be making an appearance.
Look, let's be real: who doesn't like Nathan Fillion? One more chance to work with him? We would understand why James Gunn would want that... Alright, we're starting to froth a little too hard here.
