The Matrix 4 trailer was shown at CinemaCon in Las Vegas a few hours ago, and it gave away the name of the new film. Apparently, it looks like a great sequel - so fingers crossed. Details below.
The world was barely ready for the first Matrix in 1999. But now the trilogy is decades old. We can easily forget this because they were so modern, but it really was that long ago. Has it been long enough for the public to get excited about a sequel, though? Well, only time will tell, but they are making one.
All of the old cast is back, so don't think of this as a spin-off or a reimagining, it's very much a Matrix sequel. And just a few hours ago we heard the official name of 'Matrix 4' for the first time: Matrix Resurrections. And even more excitingly, the first footage of the film is reported to be 'extremely impressive'
First Footage Of The Matrix: Resurrections
At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, members of the press were shown the film’s trailer for Matrix 4, and by all accounts, it looked incredible. We apologize we don't have the trailer to show you just yet, but you can rest assured this is going to be imminently released. Here's what one of the attendees, Rebecca Murray, had to say:
The Matrix 4 trailer is absolutely stunning
And James Preston Poole, another attendee, added:
Extremely impressive footage, truly brought the house down
So we're quietly confident in the next installment of the Matrix franchise, and we'll keep you posted when we get more news.

When Is The Matrix: Resurrections Released?
The Matrix: Resurrections will have a theatrical release on December 22, 2021, but it will also be streamed digitally at that time on HBO Max, ad-free. As if HBO Max wasn't looking appealing enough... but yes, right before Christmas you'll be able to get your next fix of Neo and the gang.
The real question now though - what the hell could their story be about? After the conclusion of the third film and fourth seemed unlikely at the time. Let us know if you've got any ideas!
