Netflix is adapting One Piece into a live-action series, and now they have officially started production. Here's what you need to know, and what to expect.
After the first script page was revealed, and the cast was set, Netflix now started production on their live-action One Piece series. Yes, there's no turning back now. It's really happening: The world's biggest manga, that's been running for 25 years, has over 1000 chapters and is far from over, is being turned into live-action... or at least parts of it.

There is no word on when the live-action One Piece series will be released, but given the nature of the manga, I'm willing to bet it's going to be a while. This one will need some serious post-production and CGI to even come close to the visual vision of the manga. Then again, the first script was called Romance Dawn, so it does make sense to assume that the live-action series will adapt the more down to earth beginning of One Piece.
Having said that... every single one of Luffy's attacks needs some serious high quality CGI, or it's gonna look cheap af. Also... consider the sea monsters that are relevant right from the start, as well as Buggy the Clown. Like... Buggy has body parts flying around right from the start, and you can't really adapt the beginning of One Piece and not include Buggy. Hell, even Zoro's three swords are a bit tricky to turn into live-action....
Seriously, I have no idea how Netflix is gonna pull this one off, not just in terms of CGI, but also in terms of runtime... how long will this show run for? This could, quite literally, be the show of a lifetime, except that real actors... age...
This is one of the biggest TV-series undertakings ever, and I'm hyped to see the result, while thoroughly prepared for failure.
