After the first film in 1993, Mario and Luigi get ready for their next adventure. The animated film is produced by Christopher Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto. Hollywood will play a big role in the cinematic comeback as well: some well-known actors lend the characters their voices.
As announced in the last Nintendo Direct, the new film is due to hit cinemas in the US on December 21, 2022. But that wasn't the most important announcement that evening. Numerous Hollywood stars are also expected to participate in the cooperation between Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment.
Actors like Chris Pratt and Anya Taylor-Joy will lend their voices to the iconic characters of our beloved Mario universe. We show you which stars will join the next Super Mario Bros. adventure.

Chris Pratt will give his voice to main plumber Mario, his brother will be starred by Charlie Day. Both are known for their charming and funny acting, so I think that this is the perfect combination for the italian brothers. Anya Taylor-Joy – famous for her outstanding performance in The Queen's Gambit – will take over the role of Princess Peach. As you can see, the voice cast is just insane. But it gets even better!
We will see Hollywood icon Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kond and – last but not least – Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike. In addition, Charles Martinet (voice actor of Mario, Luigi and Waluigi throughout the years) is involved in the production of the animated film as well. So I really, really, really hope that we will see Waluigi and Wario. Please.
I don't know why, but Seth Rogan and Jack Black did cause some serious hype for me the last few hours. Each actor will bring his individual style and humour into the movie, so it should be quite good. Furthermore, Nintendo's partner Illumination Entertainment became famous for its most recent works on Despicable Me and Minions.
So that's just another big reason, why all of you should jump on that hype train and scream like Toad for the next hours, days and weeks.
