The next Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, has been delayed. All you Star Wars enthusiasts will have to wait a little while longer for your favorite characters to make a comeback.
Can you believe that the last Star Wars movie, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, came out in 2019? Seems like forever ago with COVID still raging on, doesn’t it? The next Star Wars movie will be directed by Patty Jenkins and well, the next Star Wars isn’t the only thing she’s directing and so priorities had to be set… and it looks like Star Wars: Rogue Squadron wasn’t the top priority.
The movie was supposed to release late 2023, but now, according to a report from the Hollywood Reporter, that won’t happen, as Star Wars: Rogue Squadron won’t even start shooting next year.
Patty Jenkins will be working on the third Wonder Woman and a Cleopatra movie for Paramount next. Both very big titles… but bigger than Star Wars? I’ll let you be the judge of that.
When Will Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Release?
If Rogue Squadron won’t even begin filming next year, then it’s safe to assume that they will start 2024. Since the movie was supposed to release the same year that they would have filmed it, we’re anticipating Star Wars: Rogue Squadron to release late 2024.
Don’t be too disappointed though, with Disney+, it’s safe to say that we’ll be getting more Star Wars content soon, even if it’s “only” on our television screens and not the big screen.
Additionally, two more Star Wars movies are in the works, one by Thor: Ragnarok director and actor Taika Waititi and another by Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios president. That's both good and bad news. Good, because both are obviously talented directors and geniuses when it comes to movies, bad, because it's not like they're free of other obligations and projects.
The Kevin Feige movie doesn't even have a release window yet... so movie wise, we'll have to wait a little while longer for more content.
