If you ever thought it would be cool to see Godzilla in Neon Genesis Evangelion... well, it's your lucky day.
Say hello to the 'Shin Japan Heroes Universe', consisting of Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Godzilla and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Can you feel the Nerdgasm? Can you feel it coming? What a time to be alive, and thank you, MCU, for making everybody want to turn everything into a shared universe.
The Shin Japan Heroes Universe Is Real
While Hollywood execs can't play enough ball to combine 21 Jump Street and Men in Black, which are both owned by Sony, Japan is seeing Toho, Toei, Khara, and Tsuburaya Productions all coming together to collaborate on the Shin Japan Heroes Universe, which will see Godzilla, Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and Neon Genesis Evangelion all come together.
Aside from this huge announcement, nothing further has been stated or revealed, so we're completely in the dark as to what we can expect. Will it be animated or live-action? Will it be a TV universe, a movie universe, or both? It's not known yet, but my money is on it being animated, since those IPs would be insanely expensive to be turned into live-action, especially when combined.
This is entirely unprecedented, and for anyone not familiar with these IPs, this would be the equivalent of a shared DC and Marvel universe. Frankly, for any anime fan, to have Godzilla turn up in Tokyo-3 is a wet dream come true.
