The Super Mario Movie was a great success, which even lead to more Nintendo movies getting teased my Shigeru Miyamoto himself! However, something went majorly wrong during a screening of the movie in Northern Ireland, which was held specifically for kids. They apparently downloaded the wrong movie, as there was an NSFW picture hidden in the film.

If you're not familiar with the property, The Super Mario franchise is a popular video game series by Nintendo. In the games (and the movie), Mario, a plumber, goes on adventures to save Princess Peach from the bad guy, Bowser. In the movie, Peach might not need much saving, but in the games she does.

Mario has always been a child-friendly franchise until a recent movie screening in Northern Ireland exposed a bunch of kids to a, let's say, “indecent picture”.

Super Mario Movie: Screening Takes A Drastic Turn For Poor Kids

BBC were the first to report the incident, detailing how a bunch of elementary school kids just wanted to watch the Super Mario movie, when “an image of a partially undressed woman appeared on screen”.

The image was visible for a couple of seconds before being removed. But the poor kids, who went to the theater as “part of a summer scheme”, were exposed to the scene for a couple of seconds.

This even prompted a police investigation after the theater reported the incident to the parents and released a statement.

Waterside Theatre is aware of an unfortunate but serious incident happening today. The welfare of our visitors is always our main concern and we will be working with the relevant authorities which means we cannot comment further at this time. We offer our sincere apologies to all those affected.

So far, the investigation is still ongoing and police are looking for information that could lead them to the culprit.

I guess, compared to that, would you prefer the possibility to f*cking a bear in Baldur's Gate 3?
